Someone race 11' 12' gt500 vs zl1 (at strip)

Was reading other thread and still wondering if these 2 have been put side by side at a strip legally. Would be nice to know who's faster of the 2 that are out as of now.

We may see timeslips soon but it really cracks me up how some people answer this question by quoting published specs between the cars. I thought it would be a driver's race as well until I took ownership of a ZL1.

I haven't planned on taking my ZL1 to Firebird before mods because I really don't care what it runs stock. But if someone knows of a legitimately stock 11 or 12 GT500 in the Phoenix, AZ area, maybe the dude I met Sunday night with the black/gold one... , I'd be willing to run em at Firebird Raceway heads up and see what happens.

But my car won't be stock much longer. There's a new GT500 coming and I need to get ready!

Lets get it done. The Ford boys say an 11/12 GT500 will take the ZL1, so someone somewhere should make it happen.

Your that worried that you won't even run it stock. Looks like the GT500 has a few ZL1's fearing the night.

Come on dont back down from a GT500, if it's better on the straight then ok, but I still have faith in the track ability.

Honestly, I don't understand why folks wanna see this race so bad Bragging rights I understand, but Both cars have been shown to run UNDER 12 sec in the 1/4 mile bone stock (with slicks only) so it will undoubtedly be a driver's race in the end. Unless you put the same driver in both cars, I would call it a wash.

But I don't wanna rain on the parade, just give it a few more weeks and I'm sure you will see a YouTube clip of this race

Im pretty sure that some of the gt500 owners on here know a couple Z owners, might even have one in there neighborhood. We are all car enthusiast here, so the idea that these to cars havent met on the road or at least at a car meet to set someting up is. to think that after a month of deliveries nobody wants to know what will happen on the strip more Even the Rags are silent on this match up WTF!!!!! super

If i was a ZL1 owner the first thing id want to know is wheather or not i made a good purchase by pushing this thing to the advertised limits cuz 60k is alot of money for a garage trophy just sayin. and yea one could say that 60k is alot to pay for a car that could be damaged on the track sure your 100% right looks are nice but if ya cant hang with the competition WTF is the point. there are plenty of cool looking cars you could get for 60k. but these arent just ANY cars are they

all im saying is No more excuses!!!! racing and performance driving is the whole reason we all own these cars. If it weren't we'd all have 1.3 liter four banger hybrid powertrains and would only argue over who could get better MPG on their commute to work everyday.

sadly i don't think that zl1 can even take on a 2012 gt500, 30hp isn't gonna make up for all the extra weight. Love the zl1, its got power and comfort, but think the mustang has us beat currently. Mustang still feels cheap to me though. ><

I'm pretty sure they never made a black/gold stripe GT500. The only Mustangs I have ever seen with those colors are the Shelby Hertz models.

Really, motortrend ran the cts-v against the 12' gt500, and the cts-v whupped it. So how could the ZL1 lose when it has 24 more hp and 100 pounds less than the cts-v. HOW COULD IT LOSE PLEASE TELL ME!
