Thumbs up Offical Numbers! Congrats Team Camaro and ZL1!!

In this corner fighting out of Detroit Michigan, wearing a reverse mohawk and hood extractor, the car, the myth , the Legend The ZL1

Tale of the tape:

MSRP: 54,095
0 to 60: sub 4 seconds
1/4 Mile: under 12 seconds
Roadholding: 1G
Ring Time: 7:41.27
VIR Time: 2:52.38
Looks: Drop Dead Gorgeous

What other car company takes their production car out to the drag strip to prove their point? A while back, when mixed numbers were coming in for the ZL1s performance I said Team Camaro should do this. I never thought they would, but they did and now that the air is clear I am glad they did. Between the Ignition review and the press release today, I think we know where the ZL1 stands performance wise. I would still like to see more independent tests, but boy this is one hell of a ride. Until we see official numbers from the Ford camp, I think we can say the ZL1 is King of the Muscle Car hill!! Lets just sit back and enjoy this moment

p.s. to the Shelby and Ford boys: See below

This is the Pinnacle of Camaro Production History! And, the Pony Car War. Oh, it will continue, but THIS Camaro ZL1, THIS piece of ART, THIS Road Track Warrior, THIS Drag Strip Monster, THIS Living Legend has achieved and delivered to the consumer, the MOST FORMIDABLE and COMPLETE PACKAGE ever offered by any of the BIG 3 or ANY manufacturer, for below $60k! Nobody.

And, I ate the best two Whoppers ever since I got it! Amazing!

...hear hear!!!! It's all fun I think for those of us who have a ZL1..I am sure the contender in the opposite corner will be an honorable opponent. No doubt there. But I must say, the last time I took the ride out and I got a clean strip of roadway that was flat and long enough to goose it I said to myself Holy Mother Of God!!!! Numbers be what they may...this is the Holy Grail of factory Camaro's, make no mistake....

I haven't really goosed mine too much yet. Still under 500 miles. I was on the Hiway one day going about 45 on an on ramp... and it downshifted (in D) to whatever gear it wanted but man... it was almost up to 5000 rpms before I quickly let off! I want to run it soooo bad. But, I'm a patient!

I've been toying with the idea of removing fuse F8 for the fun of it. Like maybe it will run cooler if the valve is open all the time.... plus sound better. Not sure. It might be too noisy too. Gotta figure that out.

But.. it sure is a head turner! A lot of various people tailing it, parallel driving by it, etc.... I can tell they like it. I guess I will have to let the wife drive it and let me tail her to see how good it actually does look!

I pulled 1.15G yesterday in a wide hairpin. it was in teh 80s outside. It's amazing what a difference warm tires make - I was sliding all over the place when it was in the 40s outside.

Regarding the exhaust fuse - it sound AMAZING without it. I can't even listen to the radio anymore...I love the exhaust music too much! I did buy an Exhaust Commander to turn if off on the highway (it has a bit of a drone without the fuse). The switch works great and it works on the homelink.

...awesome. The car needs a racing harness to keep you in the seat. The micro fiber is nice, but, when the car stays right in it...the lateral G's take you wherever Mr. Newton says you should go......

You're right - I seem to move too much in the seat. the bottom is tight but the top is too wide for me. At least if they were adjustable like in the M3...

Technically, I would say it fights out of Oshawa, Ontario, not Detroit.

...the seats are fantastic, I love them, very well designed and they are comfortable enough to spend a day watching the game on cable....I felt a harness was needed because when you throw the car into a sustainable high G turn where the car hasn't any issues my body slid into the door. The car in it's current configuration can sustain more than the operator I suggest. Keep the nannies on until you know what it can do....

The GM Technical Center is in Warren, Michigan.

The Milford Proving Ground -- Milford, Michigan.

True - they roll off the line in Oshawa.............

But the idea - the engineering -- the 'creation' -- if you will, - Michigan.
