Dynoing car Saturday and need advice
Hi all,
I'm dynoing my car on Saturday. I don't know whether to dyno in 3rd or 4th. I have never done this before, so any advice about dynoing is appreciated. My car is a V6 Automatic 2LT. Thanks,

Are you the one who's actually going to dyno the car? It's usually a 4th gear pull.

Yeah...It's a Dyno Day for my Camaro Club in the area.
Why do some posts I looked up say 3rd gear and some say 4th gear?

You probably won't be doing the dyno itself. Normally a technician does it there. I'm pretty sure it's a liability thing. Especially if they have a dyno that's off the ground. They don't want somebody dropping a car off the dyno.
And different shops do it different ways as I've seen.

I've seen 4th and 3rd. Most do 4th gear pulls bc there's not as much kick!

For the V6 auto, 3rd is the most popular gear so if you just get one run go with 3rd, but if you get the chance try a run or two in both 3rd and 4th.
4th is usually used by the manual V6ers.

It is suppose to be the 1:1 gear. If you dont have a true 1:1 gear then you should do the pulled in the gear that is the closest to 1:1.

If the car is speed limited to 118mph like most are that dont have the z rated tires ull hit it before the car is going in 4th i believe so had to do in 3rd.

Mine is the 2LT with 19" wheels...no speed limiter that low I believe.
The place we're going says it's Mustang Chassis Dyno. This particular dyno is a loading dynomometer it also says.
