rainwater=soft water
Wondering if anyone has tried rinsing their cars with collected rain water. Rain water has no calcium or minerals in it and is free.
I guess this would only work for folks living away from industrial areas though due to acid rain. Anyone have any experience or stories? How do you collect your rain water? How do you filter it in case the rain catches some rocks in the gutters? |

It would be easier to buy a couple of gallons of distilled water to pour over your car for a final rinse than trying to clean dirty rain water, unless you're trying to go "green". I've been looking at hose end fiters or adapting a GE whole house filter to my garden hose for a final rinse.

sounds like way more trouble than it's worth, pick up a small softener kit, rain water, especially from the roof, will contain a lot of contaminates.

Check out the Mr Clean Car Wash Kit. It filters and softens the water from your garden hose.

you know i couldnt really find any details on how long it lasts. What i do is just use this when washing my car on top of my garden hose so im guessing like any other filter it should last 3-6 months. For sure i will replace it every 6

Rain water will have contaminates that need to be filter out before using on the car. Acid rain is one and other types from different parts of the country. The one from AutoGeek is one way to protect your finish on your ride. I'm waiting on Todd's new filter system to come online.
