Need help I wanna make the bowtie on my steering wheel red I already tried a vinyl and it didn't work any other suggestions

I've been toying with this idea but in black. The can of Platidip is sitting in my garage taunting me. I'm guessing it would be fine just like the front and rear bow ties but may need more coats to even out over the rough surface. Let us know how it works for you.
