Loud but still street legal?

I'm new to this, but I like the sound of my engine and want to hear it louder. Some of u guys talk about adding headers, but it sounds like it its no longer going to pass inspection im in TX. How does a beginner make it loud but keep it as a daily driver?! .

If there's a thread I'm missing, point me there!

My exhaust sounds plenty loud and is 100% street legal. All I had to do was go to a custom exhaust shop and have them take off the resonators and swap the stock exhaust for some Flowmaster single chamber race mufflers.

The sound is fantastic and no worries about emissions.

Plus it gets rid of those stupid looking stock mufflers.

you can run headers and still pass emissions in Texas. Just get some high flow cats if you're worried about it.

Also, not every shop in Texas does emissions testing, so worst case scenario is that you just find one that doesn't test it and get inspected there. I know of one by my house that doesn't test it. That's where I took my truck back when i had it.

Swap out your stock exhaust to SLP Loudmouth exhaust.
Check out the SLP website they have videos of their exhaust systems.

The SLP LM sounds like straight pipes, for something a little more mild then go SLP Loudmouth II

Emissions are a county by county basis. If you have your car registered in a county with emissions you have to get one done. If you don't then you don't. That's my understanding. Emissions are just having a computer plug into the car and make sure all the sensors are working anyways. It's not like a sniffer/DB level thing.

ahhhh....did not realize that. I thought it was state wide and i thought it was a little more intricate than just plugging into the computer.
