Which for me would be the automatic as I was never fortunate enough to learn how to drive a standard (fluidly... I could do it if I HAD to)... My gut initially told me to order the manual and suck up the embarrasment of squeeling the tires and killing it multiple times just to get it out of the parking lot. However, nowmy gut tells me to order the automatic... I'm ordering it in Richmod, VA even though I live in OK.
I was just wondering if anyone may have some helpful advice on the issue, perhaps there are perks to one vs the other?!

Thanks in advance!
Funny...I live in Norman and ordered mine in Michigan. Why did you order in VA? Looked in the local area and either they were out of allocations or they were $5K over MSRP. By the way, I've been one of the Sap's waiting for my V6 MANUAL...much more fun

Fail? Yeah whatever. Nah will just be the one with the smoother ride.

I'm the same way. I want to hit the gas and go. Plus will be a lot quicker than having to worry about shifting. I just don't find it fun.

Sometimes I think the guys who insist they MUST have the manual tranny probably would also like to stick with the AM/8 track cassette radio and carburetors with a manual choke.

I get annoyed when people say a muscle car like this must be stick. I look at them and say I don't like to drive stick, I want a smooth ride, I want the car to do the work, I want to go without having to shift. What is so hard to comprehend about that? lol. I just don't like manual transmission. I ain't gonna be racing this car with other cars, it is a car to appreciate what it can do for what it is and I'll get it up way over 100, but will do it the way I want to do it, lol.

As per the 8 track, I am loving my ipod interface. There is a taste of modern technology for ya.

There is nothing like driving a manual in a sports/muscle car...you feel like your one with the car....once you get the hang of it you'll love it!

A manual for me, too. Every stick-shift car I've ever owned just felt more...connected to me. You don't even think about shifting after the first few drives, you just do it.

I hate the jerking feeling of a manual. I am not great with the manual and feel will never get that smooth. So why even bother. I can always play with the TapShift, lol.

Modern automatic transmissions are very nice and there is not a lot of performance advantages of a manual transmission any more. If I lived in San Francisco then I would only drive an automatic. I don't so I will be going with the manual transmission on this car. My main reason is I prefer the LS3 to the L99. Not sure I like the way the engine will go to 4 cyl at hwy speeds. I think both combos are great though and you just have to go with what works for you.

Well I drove my 1996 Trans Am for 11 years as an auto, but I always had 6-speed envy!! So two years ago I swapped out the A4 Auto for the T-56 6-Speed, and its unreal how much more fun I have driving a car that I already loved. Stop and go driving doesn't bother me, but I do hate stop and go when your on a hill! You really do feel more connected to the car and I actually think driving a manual makes you a more alert driver. Congrats on your choice for the Auto, you'll enjoy it and who knows maybe someday you'll do your own swap!

At least with the Automatic you do have an option to go into Manual with the Tapshift. So you are sorta getting best of both worlds.

If you are implying that you can drive a manual as smooth as an automatic with no jerking and better gas mileage, that is great. But I am not you, and neither are a lot of folks here on this forum. It just seems like you are putting down the Auto to a point of offending the folks who got an Auto. I hate and suck at driving stick, but I still wanted a muscle/sports car, am I wrong for choosing an Automatic? Hell no. It's all about taste.
