A bit different header question....
I was reading another thread a minute ago and I got curious about something. If I was to put longtube headers on my camaro SS, would it pass our emissions test for inspection? Anybody have any trouble getting their car to pass inspection because of longtubes/high flow cats?

it looks like all they check is the OBDII to ensure the cats are working properly
http://www.dmv.com/nc/north-carolina/emissions-testing EMISSIONS TEST FAILURES If your vehicle fails the emissions test/OBD (On Board Diagnostic), within four months, you must have the vehicle repaired, after which it must pass the after repairs emissions test. The vehicle can be repaired at the station or elsewhere. A $250 civil penalty is levied if this is not followed and the vehicle is not permitted to renew registration. so if you have LT's and don't have the CEL tuned out then you will fail. hope that helps

get em!
also found this: http://daq.state.nc.us/motor/inspect/emission_faq.shtml What does a North Carolina emissions inspection consist of? A North Carolina emissions inspection consists of connecting a certified analyzer to the vehicle's OBDII system to verify that all vehicle emissions components/systems are working per the manufacturer specifications along with a visual safety/tamper inspection.

Dang...I sure am glad I live in Tennessee. I lived in PA for a while and their inspections were rediculous as well...couldn't live like that now.

One of the good things I love about where I live, we don't do emissions testing.
For hi-flos, if they do the scanner test then you will have to get a tune to pass. If they do the sniffer test, you have to drive the car for 10-15 mins to get the cats hot to pass. |
