Morning, everyone. Hopefully today is my lucky day. According to Erik @ Lashway, the car (or rather the hood) was at paint yesterday, so hopefully today it'll be done.

Then do the rear quarter panel last, lol. ALWAYS start from top to bottom. Better you keep the scratches and swirls where the most dirt is and where you would most expect them to be than to bring them over to areas where you'd least expect them.

Here's a mockup I did of the typical dirt and grime accumulation on a 2010+ Camaro:

The green is where the dirt is. Notice the whole car has a general green hue - this is because after a drive to a show or a week of driving, the whole car is covered in a layer of dust/dirt. However, the brighter and more opaque areas is where the most dirt is and is where the dirt that can truly cause damage and scratches lies.

In general, the rear bumper and the areas behind the tires are what receive the most dirt fallout. You want to try to do these areas LAST when QD'ing as to not cross-contaminate the other areas of the car. The front bumper is actually the LEAST dirty part of the car, however it is the most prone to actual damage such as rock chips/bugs, etc. To save yourself from sustaining such damage, I'd recommend investing in this. Once you install the initial parts, you can take it off and put it on in around one minute. Perfect for highway driving where rock chips/bug splatter is a problem.

And then, the ABSOLUTE last thing you want to do are the wheels if you're using the same rag for the whole QD (which you should not be doing in the first place). I'd recommend three microfibers - one for initial QD'ing the paint, one for buffing away any streaks from QD'ing to a maximum shine, and then one for the wheels/engine bay.

As for washing, the general rule of thumb is to wash all of the horizontal surfaces FIRST (roof, hood, shoulders/hips, mirrors) and then all of the vertical surfaces from top to bottom.

REMEMBER: It is far more desirable to keep the horizontal surfaces of the car in tip-top shape since those are what people see the most of, including yourself. Not to mention, those are the surfaces sunlight hits for most of the day where it can reveal defects. It's far more likely someone will stare directly down on your hood than it is for them to kneel down and gaze at your door in direct sunlight.

Hope that helps, guys! Lemme know if you need anymore help.
