i was worried about this until i read that skip-shift only kicks in under light acceleration. No worries now because there will be no light acceleration in any gear in my ls3

That's easy to say now, it was my attitude when I first got my vette, but once in a while you are stuck behind someone in traffic and it forces you into a light acceleration, and the stupid skip shift that you have forgotten about kicks in as you try to go to second and you start swearing under your breath or worse. I'd suggest getting the $30 kit.

Can you point me to the best tutorial on how to do this installation myself and what parts would work with the camaro? I see multiple links to different products and was wondering which is the best ones and which directions are the most accurate and easy to follow..

lmao I didnt think of that yeah most def gonna invest in the kit to eliminate the skip shift and eliminate all that swearing. Ive never really driven a stick that much so i will probly burn up a couple clutches when I first get my Camaro. THeres no way im getting the automatic sorry but you gotta learn sometime right.

The short take on the Pontiac G8 GXP in the Mar 2009 issue of Car and Driver talks about the G8's implementation of the "hated first-to-fourth skip-shift system." They say even with the system it still got hit with a $1700 guzzler penalty. But in the case of the Pontiac, it may even be worse than the Corvette, because C&D says the system programming in the G8 is "fairly aggressive - meaning intrusive..."

My friend has a 72 el camino, and he loves to skip shift.

He has a close ratio saginaw shifter with his 350 crate engine, and he says that by just getting the RPM's up high in first gear and going to fourth gear really helps him save on the gas.

So, I mean, you don't HAVE to skip shift, but it seems like a neat way to help save on the gas monies.

Well, if there's no skip-shift system built into the car, then you're right, you don't HAVE to skip shift. But the system will be built into the SS, so it's going to make the choice, not you, unless you disable it.

Try entering a military base (I work on a USAF base). You just can't plant your right foot everytime and think it's OK.

So a question...

If you install the skip shift eliminator, I realize that you'll know longer be forced to skip shift. However...will the light still come on on the dash telling you to shift from 1st to 4th?

And if so, what will the light display when you shift into 2nd or 3rd, instead of 4th like it would be telling you to do?

I had skip-shift on my 98 T/A WS6 and hated it. Who wants to go to forth at 10 miles and hour? It simply cause me to mash the gas with every take off, which will be the case with the new ride... No computer will tell me what to do, that's crap. I'll be buying the module to eliminate the skip-shift.

I didn't know it had skip shift until I got mine and started driving it. I thought I was just screwing up the shifting and accidentally going from 1st to 4th. It doesn't seem to make sense to me and I don't like being forced to go from 1st to 4th. You can get around it by giving it a lot of gas in first which is what I do but I still think it's stupid. Where can you buy a skip shift eliminator?

I got mine from SLP ...worked great on my 4th gen...I know they already have one available for the 5th Gen. When I get my SS I will see if the 4th gen one works...its the same part # http://www.slponline.com/view_product.asp?P=21008
