Delivery tomorrow. What to expect?

I live in NJ and I'm driving 350 miles north to Rochester, NY to pick my '13 up. This is the first new car purchase I've made on my own. Is there any advice you guys could give me on things to do/check before I sign for it? I want to make sure there are no surprises when I get home.

Also, I've been driving a Neon SRT4 w/400whp for the past 7 years and was curious if anyone here could give me any insight as to what I can expect from this beast. Slower? faster? Is the weight difference glaringly obvious when driving?

It's brand new so you don't have a lot of worries. I'd do a walk-around; glance at the undercarriage; make sure the transport driver or the lot monkeys didn't screw it up when they off-loaded it. Make sure the floor mats are in it. Make sure the spacers are out of the springs (look in the wheel wells). Other than that... just enjoy!

don't overthink it. like bowtiebelle said, look under the front and rear diffusers to check for any scrapes from the transport truck. maybe call and make sure they put premium fuel in it (search on here for the reasons). Tell them don't mount the front plate bracket.

make sure they don't attempt to add in any other extraneous charges at the last minute. sometimes dealers count on people being so excited to get their new cars that they'll agree to pay for ridiculous add ons..

They will try to sell you everything under the sun for your car....extended warranties...lojack.....gap insurance....death benefit insurance if you are financing....you name it. JUST SAY NO!!!!!! SAY NO to everything while sitting in the finance guys office. That finance guy is the second highest paid person in the dealership under the general manager. There is a reason for that....he makes them money by trying to trick you into buying extraneous bullshit.

Just SAY NO!!!! They will try to make you feel like an ignorant idiot for saying no. JUST SAY NO!!!! NO!!! NO!!!

Pay for your car ONLY and sign the bottom line and get the hell outta there!!!

When I bought the Neon I was in that excited mood and wound up paying around $30k for a $20k car after agreeing to extended warranty, rims and tires warranty, lojack and gap insurance. It was a mess to say the least. I'm equally excited now but I'm being much more cautious because I'm buying out of state and haven't even seen her, aside from the dealer pics. In addition to the fact that I'm a bit more educated on the value(or lack thereof) of the extra warranties and whatnot.

With regards to the spacers, are they something that I'll see immediately if I glance in the wheel well? In the event that they were removed but not placed in the vehicle for future use, what should I do?

One surprising bonus to the ZL1 is that I'm going to be paying significantly LESS in car insurance than what I am now for the SRT!

Call your salesperson right now and ask him if they are removed and located in the car. If not he has a day to get them or the deal will be delayed. I'm sure they want to move it out before the end of the month.

The spacers are very easy to see. They are bright yellow and can be seen by just looking behind the front wheels. Make sure that they give you the spacers. You will need them if you ever have to have your car loaded and transported for any reason.

Have fun on your trip home! I had a 400 mile trip home with mine. My face muscles were hurting by the time I got home from "the permasmile" - not just a grin.

My 2004 srt-4 will leave my ss in the rearview mirror. Dad's gt 500 is faster, though.
