BTW: my first Camaro was a 74.
So what. My point is change isn't always an improvement.
I don't see what the big deal is, if people don't like the 2014 go to your dealer and have them find the 2013 you want.

What's the big deal? Tell your dealer you want to wait to see the 2014. If you think it's worth the wait order one, if not by the 2013.

My point is change you tried to point out wasn't done to improve on the design or from input from previous owners. It was done out of necessity to meet government regulations. I feel in 78 on the same platform they did a much better job integrating the bumpers in going to the plastic covers, mostly due to customer concerns that the big bumpers were ugly. I think of the 74-77 models as just a stopgap attempt to quickly meet government mandated regulations.

Rendering

The renderings have the cowl hood removed which kills it for me. The cowl hood is one of the major characteristic of the camaro and should never be removed.

No one shall be disappointed. The final Gen 5 will astound.
Look for Ls7. Cold air intake scoop. Hood pins. Track managed ---- Cool running. PERFORMANCE enhanced. Give the ZL1 a run for the money.

the slight refresh that Ford did on the 2013 Mustang was perfect , I love the new taillights and some other added features , I can't wait to finally buy a Camaro later this year

My point is that I don't care if they had to do it or not. I'm just saying that some people might not like what they do and some might.
I don't understand why some people are making such a big deal out of getting a 2013 or wait for the 2014. In two weeks we will know what the changes are and they will still be able to get a 2013 if they don't like next years.

Not really. GM did a mild refresh on Silverado with two model years left for the GMT-900s. Same with Impala. It's standard practice.

That's exactly my thoughts.

Look at it from a sales/marketing timeline point of view.

- The C7 is center of attention this and next year.
- The new Mustang will certainly have the spotlight the following year.
- That leaves the Camaro somewhat in the shadows. A 2016 debut for the 6th gen would be too close the new Mustang and affect sales. That would set the stage for a debut in 2017 which is the 50th anniversary of the Camaro. That along with the Made in USA (again) tag would make a great marketing campaign to build momentum for the next gen. [It would also give time for GM to work out the bugs in the new plant.]

We all know timing and momemtun is everything when it comes to generating sales for a new model; especially for an iconic car like the Camaro. Only time will tell; but this will interesting either way.

Hmm wonder what the cosmetic changes will be
Hope they don't make RS headlights standard
Have a feeling tail lights will have some sort of after burner affect
Wonder if the bumpers or front fascia will be changed
I'm hoping not

My money is on a turbocharged V6 model.
and relatively little cosmetic changes.

The news post says 'performance improvement'. It would make sense for GM to not change much to the exterior of the Camaro. It has won numerous awards since its introduction and continues to allow the Camaro to beat out Mustang sales to this day despite inferior performance(non-1LE, non-ZL1 of course).

And a V6 turbo has been a long time coming with all the great improvements in turbo technology. Great power on the lesser displacement without sacrificing efficiency is what appeals to the modern world and it makes sense for GM to deliver on that appeal.
