Holidays my friend. Everybody is entitled to holidays. They are running one extra week of holidays already. All work and no play is not good for the soul.

I'm guessing it was in the middle of the second week of production. We were about 50 cars a day at that point.

Glad to know retirement wasn't a result of you passing us info here, Mole. It's a looong way from home, but if you're ever in Texas one day I think there would be quite a few of us willing to buy you a round or three!

Yes your right on the mark , it is coldhearted !!! We get one week off for the summer and this being Canada most of the time its cold, wet and snowing ! So having one week in the summer to enjoy the time with family is at the very least little to ask. Don't forget we're running 6 days a week till Labour Day weekend. Sorry if you don't agree. Super60

Man, ya'll enjoy your time off, you deserve it. I really do not think anyone on this site would give up their vacation, for work.

Why stop there?

Perhaps they could recruit some young children to keep the line running that week . Nights and Sundays too.

I'm on vacation this week and I say by all means. Take some time off and rest. But then again I have my car Job well done

Congrats on your retirement Mole! Still not sure exactly what you did but something to do with the interior? The young lady you trained did a good job. I see no issues. I love this car! Thanks for sharing with us.

Ray

While I understand the importance of getting our cars, and yes I am still waiting like most and I ordered in Oct 08, people really need to get a grip. What good does it do to " Kill the Good Mule " I am sure that everyone at their work site has someone who does not or can not pull their own weight , thus they kill the good mule, These Employees in Canada are producing a car so hot and wanted it just amazes me, so why try to kill the good mule, I do not know much about producing cars, granted, but 450 a day seems like alot to me, and with the few issues that I have seen posted on this forum it is nothing compared to what it could be if they rushed and did not care. So to SUPER60 and THE MOLE, Keep up the good work and enjoy your holiday.

Amen to that. Though I do hope you get my car into the production line this week, but if not I'll survive. Have a great week off next week and when is your last day at the plant? Sorry if you already mentioned this. I know I for one will miss your help on this thread.

Mole,
So, do you guys call all of your days off Holidays? I've heard you mention that a few times. Also, I assume since you guys are union that you get more than just your shutdown time off every year. Is that a correct assumption? I work for the government in the US and there are different terms for all of our days off. Thanks,

RDO - Regular Days Off (Saturday & Sunday)
Holiday - Federal Holidays like Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Years, etc.
Annual Leave - vacation time (approximately 3 to 4 weeks/year)
Sick Leave - time off when sick (approximately 2 weeks/year)

All the manufacturers have a summer shutdown. Be glad it's only one week; normally it's two but the flex line that makes Camaro only shutting down for one.
