You know the more I think about this we are talking that I will end up putting off getting a new car until next year. They release the preliminary looks at the car and details at the end of the month, but no pricing until June or so. Then we are talking about ordering it in July or August and not seeing a Camaro in my driveway until October?

I'll take my new 1LE in the next couple of weeks. Odds are that if there is a 427ci/7L Z28 or whatever they call it they will want more than I'm willing to spend on a Camaro anyways. If I wanted to spend $50K+ on a Camaro I would get a ZL1. I think it's just past what I'm willing to spend on one.

Would you really? An LS7 Camaro would likely be faster than the ZL1 (certainly in a straight line) but like the ZR1 the Z28 would likely be edged out ever so slightly.

That is why I suspect a Z/28 LS7 may not be made. IMO that would perform way to close to the ZL1 and cost nearly the same.

Like you said, the Z06 and ZR1 also have this problem, but a base Z06 is around 75K I believe and the ZR1 I think is like 109K, that kind of puts the ZR1 in exclusive territory and makes it less likely to get cross shopped.

But I still would like to see the LS7 in the Camaro.

427 Camaro just sounds bad ass haha

I know which one I'd buy..... *cough* Not the ZL1 *cough*

The Z28/LS7 Camaro would be too awesome, especially if it didn't require all the upgrades the ZL1 has that adds almost 300lbs. Something about a slow to head soak track monster just sounds right to me...

My point is more along the lines of I'm not willing to spend $50K+ on a Camaro. If the price is that close say $5K between the ZL1 and the Z28 I would personally take the ZL1 for all of it's tech and potential. A simple pulley swap and a tune gets you 50-100HP.

The biggest problem for the Camaro is that the top end models are at near Corvette prices.

Now if they keep it under $50K I might regret it but I can't wait that long anyways.

And this proves my point exactly. It could steal sales from the ZL1. It will be just as fast if not faster, and cost less.

Alot of those lap times the ZL1 pulls off are because of the Mag Ride. I doubt the Z28 will have it. The car will be a bear to handle for the average owner. It is a blessing of the ZL1 to have all the nannies.

I would like to see lap times of a LS7 Camaro with the 1LE suspension compared to ZL1 times at the same track on the same day. I bet it would be very close.
Having both available would give people a choice between a FI or NA car with similar performance.

That's the problem I predict GM having lol. That IMO would steal sales from the ZL1.

Actually it has a lot to do with how PTM controls throttle in turns. If you can go full pedal down and not have to worry about the car trying to kill you that's not the suspension. Everyone acts like BWI MSRC is the end all be all of suspensions but a properly setup non-adjustable suspension will do just as well, it just won't be as comfortable. It's no doubt the Z28 would decimate the ZL1 on a drag strip stock, not as if that would be a huge effort for a lighter car with 505 horsepower, and it at least matching the ZL1 would surprise me in the least...

Plus who is to say they don't make MSRC an option like they do on the Z06?

All true but it starts muddling up the price lines again. Mind you a Z28 with a LS7 and a set of ZL1 brakes sounds incredible to me. I just doubt that GM will be able to do it at the right price.

If they can do it at a $5K or $6K option to the 1LE with the LS7 and Brakes. I will quite possibly regret buying the 6.2L 1LE.

When I'm done with it though it will have those brakes and similar power. A Z28 will just be getting started but to be honest I'm comfortable with the concept that there will always be someone faster. I don't care I'm comfortable with my manhood...

I don't understand the problem? If people buy one or the other at around the same price point Chevy has not lost a thing. In fact they could increase over all sales with a bigger choice. It looks like many ZL1 owners on here would love fewer ZL1 sales so their cars would be even more exclusive. I see it as a Win Win for Chevy and buyers.
