I know it sounds stupid, but I want something that is the size in height as the Mustang. I really like it's shifter.

I got me a Hurst chrome stalk shifter with a classic white ball....because I despise that stock shifter. I have described it as a gimp mask, and a gorilla [surely would be censored, use your imagination]

Still in the box. Have had a horrible winter, and I'm debating putting in the 2SS gauge pod as well, but I don't have the pod yet. My $$$$ went to the hospital for a couple operations (don't ask, you don't want details) so I'm saving like mad to get the dough for that and new wheels

same boat here on the factory shift knob; couldn't get comfortable with it.
I put a 2013 knob on. much better shape for me. 2010-2012 are push on. 2013 are slip on with a flat head screw that holds the knob to the shaft, just like ZL1 and 1LE. you'll have to change the stick for the 2013 knobs to work. I ordered an MGW shifter with the ZL1 top stick. the knob was plug and play after that, except for the boot. you need a 2013 boot to attach the boot to the knob; it's a bayonet connection. I saw 2013 shift knobs on eBay with the hurst emblem so there must be GM factory hurst shifters in them. part number is? I did notice that the "leather" on the 2013 knob and boot is way thinner, and cheaper feeling then the 2010's. looks good, and a hair blacker than the 2010 grayish color. |

I too have the flameball shift knob. They have them in all different colors and styles, but I won't bother posting a pic because mine is the same one that BA RS posted a picture of. It is not painted as it appears in the pictures, but molded together like that with the different colors. They are a little pricey, but of very high quality. I enjoy shifting with it far more than the stock knob.

there may be a simpler way to attach the 2013 knob to the 2012 stick. lemme take some measurements. maybe an adapter can be made? a plug and play knob will no doubt be the least work. |

I have changed to the 2013 shift knob. As stated, it does require a new shifter assembly and boot. I had to remove the cat-back exhaust and drop the transmission down a bit to install the shifter assembly.
It's not difficult to do, but it takes some time. |
