Any V6 guys done a gear swap?

What did you go with? Glad you did it? How did you calibrate your speedo?

Thinking of changing to a 3.7 gear if available to get the car into the rpm band quicker. Lot of weight to get moving. Thoughts?

Are you M6 or A6? If M6, I'd go straight to the 3.91's. It's a drop-in.

After reading different threads/posts on rear end gear swaps I bought the 3.91's for my LLT. People that had prevously changed gear sets commented that they thought the rear end gear swaps was the best mod for the money, and car felt lighter. You're going to go through the gears a little faster and fuel. (and possibly tires if you like to drive like me. )
I will be getting mine installed next week. Can’t wait.

Automatic with a V6 (2012/2013 not sure about previous years) requires a complete diff swap to use anything except 3.55. That is the only gear I am aware of that will fit this POS diff they gave us V6 automatics and it can not be turned into a posi yet either. You will need a center section from a manual V6 or any SS, both axles, both wheel hubs and the rear section of a driveshaft to make your front driveshaft section to a rear section to bolt up to the new diff center section. Than you can have a world of gear to pick from. I tell you this from experience, I did the complete swap a few weeks ago. I only went with 3:42 gearing ( that came in the rear ) I needed the posi-traction to help me hook up when I use nitrous. Trifecta sent me an update for the speedo fix. I would order some diff bushings while you do the swap and maybe some other rear suspension upgrades, bushings, arms, and other goodies while it is out for the swap and save some labor while it is apart. I know there are vendors on here that keep all that stuff in stock and ready to sell.

I did the diff swap to 3.91s and love them. Does make the car feel lighter (more responsive), now getting use to the new rpms to gears. Trifecta sent me an update to my tune for the speedo fix.

I was thinking a 3.7 gear at most. I drive too far for work to go 3.91. That's why I didn't buy the SS.

I have not been to the track yet to verify with & with nitrous yet. I also did the SOLO HFCs and BMR bushings for the diff, cradle, upper and lower arms all at the same time with the diff swap. I'm hoping to get some track time in the next two weeks. I can say the car leaves firmer and quicker on motor than before. My G-Tech Pro is showing about 1.5 tenths quicker for the 1/4 stats and about 3.5 MPH more than before all the mods listed above. Gas mileage has not changed when I drive normal on a long trip at 60 -65 mph. I still get around 26.5 -27MPG, I always run premium fuel also. I know octane is for knock not MPG but I know I run it hard and had the tune set for premium fuel.

Anybody do the 3.55 gears so you didnt have to do the rear end swap? Did it make enough difference from the stock?

I went with the 3.7. Being that the Auto has such a steep first gear, I was afraid that I wouldn't make much use of first before it shifting into second. Plus I was afraid at the track I would have to shift into yet another gear on the top end which could potentially slow me down a hair.
