I guess that did sound a little obsessive. I do realize this is a trivial thread but at least we aren't detuning anything.
I am curious and have a a couple questions, off the weather topic:
I have been looking into the lifts...and as you mentioned, the moveable units. What is the height of your garage? Would you get that brand again? Any other points of view are welcome.

I have a 10' garage height with 8' doors....I thought when I built it at the time that I did my research and math correctly......I like to have some thought other than all the web site statements....especially from someone as obsessive as myself

Thanks for your input in advance

My ceiling is 12 feet. I had the lights moved to the side, so it is clear right to 12 feet or 144". If I raise the lift to 77" that gives me 64" clearance from the ramps to the ceiling. That is enough for any of the Solstice, Vette, ZL1, or G8 GT. I have to take the antenna of the G8. The remaining 77 inches on the bottom means I can park either the H3 or the Envoy. If I don't park anything there it is still high enough that I don't bank my head when walking around. Obviously The opposite configuration works well too. I am not able to stack 2 trucks though. I am still six inches short. Story of my life.

Not only would I buy this brand again, I would have too. My insurance carrier for the house requires that it have ETL and ANSI certification which most of the cheaper knock offs from Costco and Princess Auto didn't have. I bought through a contractor in Cambridge and he was awesome, he comes and inspects it every 2 years. It hold 8000lbs which is more than any of the vehicles I have.

I have a friend bending up some checker plate and reinforcing it to fill the centro fo teh ramps instead of the plastic drip pans. I can still lift them out if I want to do under car maintenance. PM me if you want the info from where I bought it.

Thanks I appreciate the info,...this helps greatly already. I did not think about the insurance relationship, although it seems so obvious now.

PM sent

By the way, did you southerners received your request I hope today? I just got out of work...and it seems hard to believe it reached 18 in Burlington

Did you get the floors all set?

It finally came but I don't think the good weather will last. We manage 2 days without rain and even though it rained today, it cleared long enough for me to make a run to Michigan and pick up some more projects. I finally got the garage cleaned up and I am ready for summer. My wife says you could eat off the floor. I told her thats good because you ain't eating in any of my clean cars.

Not really a Ford fan but I will say old Henry had it right when he said "You can have it in any color you want, so long as its black."

Ouch! Bad assumption on your part. Just because I keep the cars clean and park them in the garage doesn't make them garage queens. My wife drives the vette every day. I drive either the ZL1 or the Solstice every day. I wasn't driving the G8 GT enough so I gave it to my 83 year old father who drives in every day, albeit gently. Definitely not garage queens....thanks.

We're supposed to go on the track at Watkins Glen this weekend. Forecast is 77 Friday, 47 Saturday and maybe snow Sat night. Why wouldn't it be? It's NY and a weekend.

He was obviously talking about the Hummer...

Another winter weather advisory here the next couple days. Glad I was able to get the Z out a couple weeks ago because it will be a couple more weeks until the salt is gone again for my garage queen.
