How is the testing done? What size skid pad and is this an average of both directions?
We run on a 200-foot skidpad. A clockwise loop is made and the time to complete the circle is recorded. Then we repeat in the opposite direction and that time is recorded. After a few runs we record the best time in each direction, add the two together and then plug that average time into the formula to get the AVERAGE g the car managed to put down. I've always wanted a GTO.. good to see you guys making them better!

So 1+ g number was made through a combination of suspension parts and grippier tires? Still, that's an impressive jump.

Still, unless they went to crazy R-compound tires the kind of jump they made shows that thier system did improve the handling. We had a company bring out an Old Nova to test.. they did the before test on some BFG radial tires. When they came back to the do the after testing (with the new suspension parts) the Nova had BFG R1 racing tires.. lol.. Of course they destroyed the old times, but we didn't run the story since it was unfair. We now have tire rules we try and enforce. But in the real world most guys that upgrade their suspensions also upgrade thier tires/wheels. Although the Camaro has some pretty good tires from the factory (220 treadwear)

Also one thing that we did that goes beyond what you mentioned, is that we had 2 different drivers do the all the tests, and we averaged their scores. The driver's were also professtional drivers and not Pedders employees. They did conduct the tests exactly as you explained it. thanks mike dms |

Sounds like you tried to conduct the tests as fairly as possible. Good job!

We have not done one on a Camaro yet ourselves. We will be doing some significant testing next week in Texas, but will not be doing it on a base line car due to time constraints thanks mike dms |

We will do: 200-ft skidpad 420-ft slalom (70 foot cones) 60-0 braking Will be done bone stock. Then we will start swaping stuff out and retesting. We will also base chassis dyno the car before we start trying to get more power. I will shoot you our base numbers when I get them.. at least it will give you an idea. Here's an old video of our slalom test. Motor trend uses s wider spacing on thier cones, but typically test older cars.
