I cant really see the pic very well on my phone but I would guess bad tune, not enough fuel supply, or bad gas. Those 3 key elements are vital, VITAL for a long lasting setup on boost. I am sorry for your loss but I feel your pain because my motor needs rebuilt or replaced as well.

Looks like a detonation issue to me as well, how much boost? Certainly doesn't appear to have had ptv clearance issues.

Stressed top ring lands. When boosted you what more loose on the top ring land. Especially in an alloy block. Detonation would be more of a burn or melted spot or spotting.

Not from being lean because the pistons start to melt on the exhaust side before they go and I don't see any melting where I'd be looking for it.
And as noted above, there is no PTV contact evidence. Cast pistons and just how much boost is a good point too.
