Many years ago I was shopping for a car but was still undecided about which model I wanted. I went to a dealer and test drove a car and then I told the salesperson that I still had not made up my mind. I would go and test-drive the other models that I was interested in and call her later. Then she pulled out a contract and wanted me to sign it before I left “so the paperwork would be ready if I decided to come back”. That helped me decide I did not want that car.

Guy tried to sell me a 1LS for 28k @8.99% interest over 7 years lol

He had the keys for my trade in evaluation.

Request #1 for my keys... what about 8.25%?
Request #2 ... ok how about 6.4?
Request #3... 5.2?

Showed him my credit union website where I could get 2.8%...

Threatening to call the cops if they didnt give me my mf keys... ok ok ok how about 2.99%?

I asked how and he said "that doesnt matter". I said HOWWW??? He told me that he thinks he could make that happen cause he has a close relationship with the banks.

I grabbed my keys and said you should have led with 2.99% and you might have sold a vehicle today and walked the **** out...

Good for you. I hate that hold your keys and license crap. Jeep did that to us once.

I wanted to get a 1LT RS from a local dealership and they didn't have them so I asked if they could get one or something like that. They said "The RS Packages is only on the 2LS, 2LT, and 2SS" I new this was crap because I researched my car and knew that they do in fact make 1LT RSs. So I went to the next town over and got my Black 1LT RS with Convenience and Comfort package as well as the back up camera. So the to that dealership, if they don't have it, it don't exist.

Dealer told me the color didn't matter. He's right. Yet completely wrong at the same time.

When I first went looking for the camaro I went to a local dealer at the time, I knew exactly what I wanted and the lady knew it so we say down at her desk and she said to me and wrote it down on paper

" I can charge you what I want $10,000 $8,000 $6,000 but today I'm only gunna charge you $4,000 over sticker"

I told her you ain't charging me nothing cause I'm going elsewhere

The next weekend I go to a different dealer and we told him what happened and he said

"Oh that's my dealership these are really hot cars I just said one 2 days ago for $12,000 over sticker"

Told that guy I rather have my money in my pocket then yours, he stuttered as I drove away

I did find a great dealership but just funny how some act all high and mighty like they are the end all be all

Being a salesman a lot of these stories make me laugh and scratch my head at the same time. I don't know how half of these morons you guys talk to can make a living doing this! As for all of the over sticker BS I know that we have only ever sold one car over sticker and that was the first ZL1 we got so if someone jerk salesman tells you everyone pays it then please just laugh at them and take your business elsewhere.

I have a couple of stories from looking to buy my ZL1. I was 24 last summer and one dealership pretty much told me that I could not afford it without even looking at my job or credit. A few minutes later she told me that she might be able to convince the manager to sell one at 500 over sticker since he turned down 7000 over on the 2012 in the showroom. A salesman at said dealership said that they only made 800 2012 ZL1's and will not make any more for any other model year since it was just a one time run. While this is the largest dealership in the area I don't believe they have sold a ZL1 yet.

April 1985 this happened to me.
Went to the local dealer to look at
and test drive an '85 Monte SS.
Was told not to get on the gas to
hard, was a cooler of fish in trunk.
Seems they had went to Fla in the car.
Being young and dumb went ahead and
test drove it and then tried
to get financed for the car. Thankfully
G.M.A.C. declined the credit application.
Couple days later went to the next town
and they had a Monte SS in showroom and
it was in my drive way 5 days later.

This happened to my Father.
He was looking at a Ford
and after the salesman was showing him
around the car and just bout to go start
negotiations. The salesman informs my
father that wheels/wheel covers didnt go
with that model/trim level.
My Father walked right out the door.

These are reasons that some dealers are referred to as Stealer ships. Not just Chevy dealers but there are others that play the same games. There are some out there that are honest and willing to give a fair deal.

The controller of a dealership group here is a friend of mine, and when it was time, I called him and asked who to talk to. I got to the dealership, and their Camaro specialist, general manager, and service manager were there waiting for me. The greeted me by name, I pointed out the one I wanted, they gave me a hell of a deal and no hassle, and I drove out in less than an hour with a Permagrin in place. I am pretty sure I wasn't lied to because I didn't need to ask any questions... just pointed at the black one and signed the paperwork.
