Cool Stripe fraud...interesting

After many attempts to install the hood stripes correctly, the 3rd party guy decided to slip in a 3m stripe for $139 a set instead of eating the cost of the GM stripes ($439) for the hood. I noticed a slight difference in the color from a distance and investigated and got the dealer to admit the 3rd party guy was not using a GM stripe after many attempts to do the job correctly.

Look at the corner of the outline stripe. One has a radius and the other is square cut. Also the texture of the material is different. One looks like a shiney color and the other is dull.

If you have had trouble getting the job done correctly. Check you stripes out. The orginal GM stripe has square cut corners.

Unacceptable. I hope your dealer gets this corrected for you.

Another prime example of a lazy ass not trying to deliver quality work. He probably figured that shoving out $149 for a third-party stripe would save him the time and effort of correctly applying the GM Stripe.

Hopefully this will be sorted out well in the end.

GM customer service said ALL stripes are put on OUTSIDE the factory. Are you sure the car didn't go to another dealer before you got the car? The GM order sheet also says " dealer Installation".

One is also closer to the edge of the hood then the other. Now that's what I call a Half aSS Job. Sorry couldn't resist. BTW Do Not Except It.

They are put on in Whitby. It's a town right next to Oshawa, then they're shipped back to Oshawa to be shipped. It delayed it's arrival about a week. I also tracked my car the day it went on a rail car to the day it arrived to me watching them drive it off the transport truck with video. Your claim is false!

They're also listed on my build sheet and window sticker....

Chevrolet website says DEALER INSTALLATION. If you have information that makes that website false, that's a good thing. I just wonder why GM doesn't know about it or updates their own website. I ordered off the GM website. If Whitby in outside the factory then I guess GM customer service is right. They said they were installed outside the factory.
