ok

Congrats that you have such a nice father. My dad did the same for me but i don't get it til the day i turn 16. Im halfway there 15 and 1/2 =D. But yea some people will say that your to young to drive that car. But the truth is a lot of young drivers are very responcible and not stupid. The ones that are immature are the ones the adults notice. So don't take any of the comments they are going to give you seiriously. Also I hope you get it soon. I'm counting down the days. Yes I will admit peer pressure is a huge thing when your a teenager. I've been able to tone it out. Ive learned from a tragic accident not to be stupid. The day my friend turned 16 his dad bought him a mustang and ended up totalling the car that day, and just barely surviving. Please just be safe when driving this car.

Also the adults on this fourm. Not all of us kids are crazy drivers who are complete morons. The kids that you notice are the ones that go flying past you, cutting you off or in a crash. As long as he takes care of his car and doesn't abuse it he deserves it. Congrats on the car. What color did you order? I got a 2SS ABM with White Rally Stripes.

Even so, I don't think it's about responsibility, it might also be how you were raised. I'm 15 1/2 too, but I'm not going to speed, tailgate, or do burnouts. I don't see the point to any of that, and while I'm probably not as tempted since I'm driving a V6, my parents always taught me to drive safe- keep my cool, pay attention to my surroundings, and most importantly: don't show off. I don't stand to gain anything from that. Well, maybe a one-way ticket to heaven...

All in all, I think if the OP knows not to screw around in a car with that much power, he deserves it as much as anyone else does.

Either way, the OP and person I quoted are both lucky they're even getting 2010 Camaro's.
I have my '98 Z28 semi-clone. It cost $3600, had 101k mi, and sat for God knows how long when I bought it, and I'm dying to even get behind the wheel of a 2010 Camaro, but I'm still treating it like it's a brand new car and my baby.
To every man his own.

Yes I completly agree. How you drive depends on how your parents drive etc, and how well they teach you. Yes i agree once again I myself do not see the point to do any crazy things. My parents always told me "If your not 100% sure you can make it and be safe its not worth doing"(para-phrasing no exact words) and The 98 Z28 is a nice car my cousan has one away with him at college. I hope we can change some of the people on this sites opinion for younger drivers.

omg the kid has a great parent and if he wants to get his son a SS good for him. I mean it may be 400-420 hp car but come on its a steal at 34-38k. There is no need to be calling the kid out or any of that stuff. It should not matter if you are a 40 something trying to relive the glory days or a 16 year old kid that loves the way it looks, you are a camaro owner and thats what really matters. I rather the kid fall in love with an american legend then have his dad buy him a bmw or something and letting him loose out on being part of something special.

So lay off him and just be happy that we might be adding another member to the club

i personally thought the ABM looked really good in person but to me it seemed alot darker but i bet white stripes really add alot to that color.

As for the IOM i fell in love with that color the first day i saw the concept and it only grew after i saw it on the production car. and the IOM looks great in the sun every time i go look at it its like its a different color, i love it! and the CGM stripes give it a very nice color contrast... i was originally thinking orange with white but im happy i went orange with CGM

I hate how everyone gets so pissy cuz a kid is going to get such a sweet car with 426 horses. So what. l built my 1985 monte carlo ss to over 400hp when i was 16/17 and had the greatest time of my life with that car, didnt kill myself or wreck it, gettin into a little trouble here and there is what life is about. Hell I wish every 16 year old could have the joy of owning such an awesome car. everyone else is just being jealous.

Yeah, we're not all irresponsible. There are reasons some kids get beater cars (like a crappy camry), and there are reasons some kids get nice cars like our Camaros.
Our parents trust us.

Btw, I agree about the IOM looking good in the sunlight. I was at a car show on Friday with my dad and someone brought an IOM LS1 to the show. Around 7:30, the way the sun was hitting the car, it looked absolutely stunning. I never really thought much about it before, but I wouldn't mind owning one like yours (IOM with black rally stripes) one day.
But, Rally Yellow is my absolute favorite color.
