To be honest GM isn't going to care what fluid it is as long as its not dyed red or purple they usually won't even check it.

It's what I thought. After speaking with a couple different GM service reps, what their answers all boil down to is, if it's not the fluid listed in the manual and it can be proven that the fluid you were using caused the damage you want covered in a warranty claim, you're SOL. GM is just going the CYA route (not surprised), but at least now I know for sure.

Wish I could feel bad for all of you, but the way you dog "automatic tranny" guys, now you know one of the reasons for having an automatic, especially since we have paddle shifters if we so choose.
Now besides trying not to burn out your clutch, you have to figure out how to shift from 2nd to 3rd. And some call txt'ing a distraction. Good luck, Chevy will figure it out, eventually. |

I have never once bashed someone for driving an auto. I say to each his own. But regardless of what type of transmission someone opts for, it should not have issues like this from day one.

There not going to void your warranty for using any fluid that meets or exceeds there specs. almost all fluids do that. The dealers like to scare people into thinking you have to use what they sell you. The stuff you buy with a GM label is lowest bidder stuff. Just about any other reputable brand fluids will exceed it. Use full synthetic in everything and you exceeded the oem stuff.
