Jason Line Wins Pro Stock at NHRA Fall-Nationals
The Holley Gen 3 Ultra Dominator Carburetor gives Line the upper hand By Nikolas Kolenich ason Line and Holley have a lot to be proud of going into the month of October. After having a successful September, Line and the KB racing team have an impressive resume to show for their use of the Holley Gen 3 Ultra Dominator carburetors. Holley’s all-new fuel mixing machine has contributed to Line’s impressive standing of runner-up at the Carlyle Tools NHRA Carolina Nationals, the win at the AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals, and achieving the Low ET of Eliminations at the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals. “The Holley team put a lot of work into the Gen 3. We’re glad to see them in action in the tough world of NHRA Pro Stock racing. With top racers like Jason Line being successful and laying down blistering 6.590 ETs at 211.2 MPH, we’re confident they will help racers at all levels,” Bill Tichenor, Holley’s Director of Marketing said. “Our engineers listened to what racers needed to be competitive, and we responded with a powerful carburetor that’s also easily adjusted at the track.” Line races with a 2013 Summit Racing Pro Stock Camaro with the help of the KB racing team from Mooresville, North Carolina. Recently, the team has begun using the Holley’s new Gen 3 Ultra Dominator carburetor. The Summit Team has seen impressive results using Holley. So much in fact, this is the second race Line has won with the new Holley setup. Designed specifically for all out racing applications, the Holley Gen 3 Ultra Dominator helps Lines’ naturally-aspirated 500ci engine to crank out an estimated 1,400+ hp. “We started testing with the Holley Gen 3 mid-season and it showed great potential right out of the box,” Line said. “It has proven to be a great design and casting. It’s performing remarkably well for us!” The Holley Gen 3 Ultra Dominator utilizes a new, patent pending main-body that’s 5/16-inch taller than its predecessor. The added height allows for larger radius air entries that deliver smoother airflow into new fully machined, big bore venturii. Also standard with the new Holley’s Gen 3 Ultra Dominator carburetor is an aluminum body that saves 3.8 lbs. over previous models. The fuel bowls have 20 percent more capacity, while billet aluminum metering blocks are fully adjustable and feature improved gasket sealing. A modified skirt on 1,350 cfm and 1,475 cfm models help maintain a strong fuel signal. Each carburetor is even ready with a factory-style TPS mounting for use with data acquisition systems. The joys of testing, wonder how much that will cost to fix?
