Is the GM front spoiler solid?

Is the GM front spoiler solid? I know it's a bit spongy, but would it hold a screw?

Mine has been separated from the fascia since new, and it bugs the crap out of me. I can picture it pointing strait down at highway speeds.

I have pried it apart, and cleaned it well, and put some new two sided tape in there, but it just won't hold. I believe it is in a bind from the factory.

If you look at the attached picture, you can barely see it on the drivers side at the corner of the fascia.

If anyone knows if it will hold, I would like to just put a stainless steel screw in there from the back side and be done with it. I don't like the idea of the dealership taking off the fascia to fix it their way...for obvious reasons.

Can't help with your question, but would like to say that I like that splitter the best, but didn't buy it because it tapes on.

I wanted a bolt on one, cause I worried about that very problem with the 3M tape.

Good luck.

Jim

Thanks guys for the replies.

I would still like to hear from anyone who has installed this themselves.

I would imagine you could use the.....push pins (for lack of a better word). I have the ACS splitter, and you drill a bunch of holes and and use these plastic fasteners.

Yep.

But I backed away when they said they would have to take off the fascia to repair it.

I had one on my SS. It lasted about a year. What's left of it is probably still on the side of I-81 after blowing off because those things apparently don't hold up. Drive in a few screws now while you can.

Beaver Creek,
I have the same black synergy, 14 of 255 and my front spolier is doing the same thing. I took it back to the dealership and was told by the body shop "It happens." My front spoiler is not too bad, I have seen photos where it looks like others have separated about a 1/4"; mine is slightly noticeable at the corners. I believe it’s just a fit and finish issue from the factory and may be effected by certain weather conditions. If you decide to use screws, I would recommend you pre-drill all the holes to prevent the material from splitting when you install the screws. Use BIG washers.

Good Luck, keep us posted

Agreed, still all your holes and use big washers. Also get stainless steel if you can, I'm not certain but I think stainless will hold up the best from the elements.
