Turbos in place of mufflers, drone?
I've seen this set up on quite a few cars, not just Camaros but also C6s, R8s, etc. and I was wondering if you would get drone on the highway or around town with a set up like this? I'm looking for people with some personal experience with this, thanks!

The further you mount a turbo away from the manifold the less efficient it will be. Rear mounted turbos are by far my least favorite way to mount them! I've been in a couple C6 Vettes set up with kits like this and I wasn't impressed. Look at the AGP twin kit. Much better design!
As for the drone that will entirely be up to your exhaust choice. There are plenty of fairly free flowing quiet choices on the market. |

The way I read your title was that you were looking to swap your muffler with turbos. Thanks JT |

I have twin turbos that mount under the manifold with a 3 inch magna flow catback. You can barely even hear the exhaust on the highway. With the turbos further back i would think itwould be even less noise

Thanks for the replies, yes Twin I was really just looking at noise level, not efficiency or peak power numbers.

turbos are always going to have less sound as the exhaust is ran through the turbo's vanes, and there is no open track like with a cheap muffler than gives you than drone sound your not wanting. only sound you get is when the exhaust is dumped during decel which is just that cool hiss.
If your wanting a really good kit thats not that expensive unless you go crazy with the turbo design, call nick over at fastlaneturbo.com he has been building kits for over 20yrs..

now i have the same system and mine is super loud with tons of drone. difference? i have no cats, no mufflers, no resonators etc...so its whats done to the rest of the exhaust besides the turbo that counts. i would think with a stock exhaust and turbos out back the sound wouldnt be loud. sound more like a jet plane than anything.
