I remember the days when it was "Made in the USA" but of course lawyers screwed that all up, now it has to be made 51% or more to have that USA Label. Although I gotta give credit to the corporate lawyers that greased the political palms so now even if its built in Mexico or Canada it can state "Made in America". Of course a decade later and more greasing of the palms that "Made in America" also includes South America. Just wouldn't of sounded right "Made in the Americas".

Normagene,

Not necessarily a flame onto you but since you stated it already. Why exactly wouldn't "made in the Americas sounds okay". The last time I checked most people doing the grunt work here in the United States are immigrants? America is not just the United States. That's the main problem the USA has always had, people that haven't traveled the world still have that we are better than you because we are the USA. We are behind in commerce, education, and health coverage. When you watch other countries news broadcasts they have world news related to the whole world. The USA is all about us, that's why we look so bad to others sometimes when we travel due to standing out so easily! I seem to recall it as one America before it was divided up? NAFTA ring a bell at all?

Just for the record before the flag waving starts, I volunteered and served in the military after Vietnam that was good enough for me.

My ZL1 is a supercar. That's what I started calling it since I saw this thread. Hey let's drive the supercar today.

My house costs less than an ZL1. I'd say it's an expensive car!

Not sure where I went wrong in my comment. I was only stating what the marketing philosophy has been over the years. Made in America now legally means North and South America. Most people didn't even notice that it went from "Made in the USA" to "Made in America". As a marketing strategy it was brilliant because they had to change it since the cars were no longer made 51% or more in the states. Advertising the selling of American cars as made in Canada or Mexico the big three concluded it was a better strategy.

I definitely understand the big picture. The U.S. rubs a lot of folks the wrong way. But people still risk their lives everyday to come here!

I knew I owned a supercar! I just figured it was my ZL1 and didn't realize it was my Fiero GT.

Only one Supercar? Saw a website that lists Supercars, and anybody can add whatever they want to the list. One guy has his riding lawn mower listed as a Supercar. LOL......

I'm going to chip in my vote and say yes, the ZL1 is a supercar... i'm going off isolating the words 'super' and 'car'. Super - indicates very good, excellent, outstanding. + car. well, i believe i've heard each of these words used in a sentence with the ZL1 in reviews (and GT500, and Ford GT, and ZR1, and Z28, and most Ferrari's, Lamo's, etc... etc...)

I also believe 'Supercar' is defined based off the competition around it. So, with that said an SS can be considered a 'supercar' if it is the top of the line car within its area / meet (i know, i added a new car to the debate which everyone will go against, BUT WAIT)...

so now defining boundaries of 'supercar', who is asking, what do they have, and what is it being compared to? answer these questions to find out which one is the 'supercar' of the group, of course with limitations. if you're comparing a honda accord stock to a honda civic and prius, one is not a supercar, there is a hidden question in the definition which is: 'can it keep up with a -fill in the blank sports car-....' and you fill in the blank.

So lets retrace here... a ZL1: What are we comparing it to? Lambo's, Ferrari's, Porsche's. Since a 'crowd' is asking, we have to say, well, Lambo is an exotic sports car, so is Ferrari, and Porsche is a... ? luxury sports car... so why are we comparing a ZL1 with such cars if it is just and upgraded SS? because it's a supercar.

maybe i'm beating a dead horse, i stopped reading after page 3 lol.
