Weird clutch

Okay, so I have an '11 SS and the clutch is acting weird. I don't know if other Camaro clutches are like this but when you depress it, it's stiff and then eases in. Same with letting it out but opposite sequence. It also grinds sometimes going from 1st-2nd and we took it to a Chevy dealer and they tried to say it's normal! It "chatters" sometimes when pushing it in coming to a stop. And lastly, when I go to start it up, it makes clicking sounds when its pushed in.

About as normal as you can get with the manual SS. Mine did it too. Seems the answer from GM is "Working as intended." Now if its a terrible grind from 1-2nd it might need to be looked at. Mine had the same thing but it was really light and didn't really happen all the time. Hell if I beat the hell out of it the noise didn't happen. Only when lightly driving.

As for the stiffness part, its probably the spring on the pedal. Mine was light and then pushed hard right when i was about to connect. It made for some embarrassing moments when I was learning to drive it...

Take it in and see what they say. I bet they say it's fine.

Camarofan22 there are many problems that can happen to your clutch if the brake fluid is not clean. The design of the clutch shares your brake fluid reservoir. Dust from the clutch discs gets into the system past some seals and gunks everything up. Get a syringe and suck all the brake fluid out of the reservoir, fill it up with new fluid, put the cap back on, get in and work the clutch up and down about 30 times. Repeat until the fluid is clean. Spirited driving increases the gunk buildup faster so you may have to do this quite often. ****Absoloutely do not get any brake fluid on any of your paint. It will ruin it. So be very careful ****

Kind of an old thread but...

Yep, mine too. It feels like a compound bow, and I would bet it shares the same purpose:

When you get to the bottom of the pedal, the tension seems to let up, seems to not be as springy - this is to ease your clutch leg. Uses less energy to keep it fully depressed, but still has all the springy power of a nice, tight clutch.

It took a bit of getting used to, but now I can drive it as smoothly as the tremec in my dad's challenger.

Also, I've heard the chatter you're referring to, but with better clutch control, that chatter seems to have stopped.

Since this is an older thread, I'd love to hear what you think about the clutch now that you've had it for a few more months.
