Exactly. Like I said, I love this service dept. They've done quite a bit of free work for me when they probably should have charged (flashed my radio for USB install, interior trim install, etc.) It's just a shame that I can't use'm anymore. Luckily there are plenty of good mechanics and speed shops in east texas.

In Ohio it's not illegal to have nitrous in your car, however you can't have it connected. So in other words it's not illegal so long as it's not operational. Why have it if you can't use it? I know it's one of those things, no reason you can't use it so long as you don't get caught. People not wanting to work on it is just another negative that makes me glad I didn't spend the money.

Just a question for the OP....how many times have you actually used the nitrous?

Russ
I do not mean this in dis-respect to any LEO, but if any are reading this they will probably agree, I know I have had many LEO'S tell me this who are friends of mine as well. Don't ask an LEO what's legal and what's not, they are not attorneys or lawmakers and many times are not familiar with the ins and outs of every law of the land. Go to your states website and you can find the actual law regarding nitrous in yours state. And as someone mentioned below, Nitrous, like any power adder, comes with risks, but the majority of problems are due to people not understanding or using it properly. Hope that helps.

Maybe the dealer's shop is not certified to handle pressurized bottles of the stuff.

All legit businesses reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.

This business seems like a bunch of ignorant pussies. Not like the car could explose because of nitrous!!

Asking a LEO is a good idea for a starter, but they cannot be familiar with all the laws out there, just too many.

I had a dealer refuse to look at my SS. I left and traded it in at a different dealership that day for a ZL1. I SHOWED THEM!

Like a lot of TX/LA towns if you pronounce it like it's spelled you're wrong. It's nah-coh-doh-chiss. That g is in there for no other reason than to separate locals from outsiders.

Question... How do you over torque a gas cap? Unless the cap was defective it should have started slipping and clicking at the correct tightness. I was always told to make it click 5 to 7 times to make sure not to get an emmissions code. My S10 had a CEL on it and the code was for the Evap system. I took the gas cap off then retightened it reset the light and it has not come back on in 7 months.

Wow you must drive a lot for your powertrain warranty to already be expired on a 2012...

It's funny you bring that up. The dealership didn't give me a conclusive answer on the subject. It was only when I took it to a mechanic that they told me I had a p0449. So, yeah, it was the evap vent valve not the gas cap. I'll have to send my ex some flowers. All I knew is that she had my gas cap sounding like a ratchet.
