Order them through your local Chevy dealer, or contact Becky I'm sure she can hook you up. Take a look at them at the Chevy website ... "Chevy SS" They are being imported from Holden, like the GTO & G8. The only options available are a sun roof and full size spare tire.

I saw one being driven out on the roads a couple of weeks ago, might have been in the Vineland-Millville NJ area. Close enough to recognize it for what it was (and hear clear confirmation) but too far away to see much detail and too briefly to notice whether it had regular plates.

The 19 inch wheels may be lighter and offer an advantage over the stock L99 in terms of affecting torque. I wonder how they would look on an SS?

January Car and Driver has a comparison between the SS and a Charger SRT8.

Spoiler alert:

They pick the SS as the winner.

As I predicted in June (post 155), the SRT8 is faster in a straight-line but the SS is the better handling car.

About the Dodge...
"The dashboard is as wide as a Ram pickup's, and the pinched windows and high cowl amplify the sense of corpulence."

"The stiff legs unsettle the chassis over sections of road that didn't faze the Chevrolet."

"The Charger is a blunt weapon that feels large and detached in rough use."

"Dodge's inferiority creeps into its cabin like a haze of burnt rubber."

"Overall material quality and refinement fall short of the overachieving Chevy's."

"The SRT8's loud and proud character is true to muscle-car tradition, and that's sufficient for many in the Mopar choir. But the SS is simply the better car in every other measure."
About the Chevy...
"The SS's chassis is a monument to sports-sedan fundamentals."

"The SS's lateral grip bests not only that from GM's last Cadillac CTS-V, but the current Audi S6 and BMW M5 as well."

"The firm brakes feel more responsive managing the lower mass, and the car changes direction more assertively than Dodge's freighter does."

"The Chevrolet is more pleasant to cruise in too, with great seats all around and premium-looking details."

"It [SS] is classier and more reserved in its athleticism, despite its purposeful stance."
---------------Chevrolet SS----------------Charger SRT8

Power-------415HP/415lb-ft-------------470HP/470lb-ft
Weight------3,931lb-----------------------4,371lb
%F/%R------52.6/47.4--------------------54/46
0-60---------4.5sec------------------------4.2sec
1/4mile------12.9@111mph--------------12.6@114mph
70-0---------153ft--------------------------152ft
Skidpad-----0.95g-------------------------0.90g
Slalom-------43.7mph---------------------43.2mph
Price---------$45,770/$45,770----------$47,475/$55,150

The SS won every category: vehicle, powertrain, chassis and experience.

Simply more car for the money than the Dodge.

If you want to find a real comparison check SS Camaro vs GXP G8 (automatic G8). The new Chevy SS is just a rebadged GXP G8 with less appealing body panels a little nicer interior and no manual option. Same LS3, same power ratings, etc

Yes, the Camaro is the only performance car in GM's V8 line up that got shafted with a truck engine. The Corvette, G8 GXP and SS sedan ALL have a LS3 with 6L80E option.

Honestly for the price of the new SS sedan they should have put a LT1 in it. You can find new SRT8 392 Chargers for less money and that doesn't make sense to me.

For the last time.

G8 = VE Commodore.
SS = VF Commodore.

The changes are more than just a vastly improved interior and updated front/rear fascias. A good chunk of the suspension is completely new.

Constantly spouting that SS is just a rebadged G8 makes you sound really uninformed.

Commodore was never designed with LT1 in mind.

So the VF is essentially an evolution of the VE . . . and still stuck with front tires that are relatively narrow for the car's weight.
