Carbon Fiber anvil spoiler
Just received this today, this is my 1st CF item. How do I care for this? Is this wash as normal? Can it be seal and or waxed?
Thanks as always. Sent from my 2SS/RS Last edited by nyrfan; 12-11-2013 at 11:53 AM. |

Assuming they used a good tough resin to create the part (and I have no reason to believe they didn't), you should treat it the same as the rest of your paint.
Meaning washing, polishing, protecting, and waxing should be perfectly fine, as well as a good idea. I don't have any CF parts myself but an educated guess says you're ok here.

I'm pretty certain there is some kind of clear on it already. Just installed it: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my 2SS/RS |

So I'd say the spoiler was about 90% perfect, just some light scratches and marring.
After some reading I broke out the PC with Adams 4" focus pads, only used the white pad. Anyway after 2 passes the spoiler is now just about perfect, I'd say 99%. Maybe one more pass and it will be perfect but I'd going to see what I think tomorrow. Sent from my 2SS/RS |

LOOKS fantastic btw. Treat it like the rest of your paint.

Ask Anvil if they used a UV stable clear on the part. If they didn't it will, over time, turn a yellow/gold color. All Seibon CF parts do this (I know from experience). The install looks good!

I'd ask Anvil. Many times a two part epoxy clear is used on carbon fiber parts. It is superior to conventional clear coats.

Many good quality clear coats will do that. Some epoxy clear coats, such as the CLR I use on my shifters is even difficult to sand. It does take a while to cure so production parts such as this may not use it because it is a bit more labor intensive than conventional clears. If something similar is used it will outlast your car. lol
