1LE parts, in many cases, are NOT of a standard deemed adequate for the Z/28...

200+ new parts. 1 is the engine. Go back and see if you can discern the rest...

And how many versions of those 200+ parts did the Team look at/try out/discard/reorder/re-spec/reorder/retry...

Simple, right?!

Remember, "good enough" for THIS car probably ISN'T...

The fact that YOU chose a 1LE puts you, now, ahead of the curve. A lot of folks, waiting for the Z/28 price to be announced, are likely now to scurry down to Hometown Chevy and order up exactly what you now enjoy.

Read next time. I said I don't care about the z28. I care about switching the ls3 for a ls7. I want to know how that costs 30 plus k. Ironic for a person that is so helpful.

If you don't care about the Z/28 and only want to know how much it would cost to put a LS7 in a 1LE then this is the wrong thread to be discussing it in. Please start a thread in the 1LE section.

Then start a thread about it. Lots of folks have done it and could probably help you do it for less money.

You're trying to lump this one part into a compete re-tool of the Camaro.

The man said that putting an LS7 in a 1LE (and ALL the work behind the scenes to prepare that car for production) takes your roughly-$40K 1LE and makes it a $60K car...which is $20Gs, NOT your incessant $30G figure.

BTW, ask Summit how much more for AAAAAALLLLL the dry-sump bits 'n pieces, the LS7-specific exhaust manifolds and a few dozen other necessary tidbits...

Pretty damn close to $20K, and then add labor 'n such...

The post above was where I stopped reading in this thread - not because I don't want to but because I don't have the time right now and a few people make me want to throw myself in front of a speeding truck.

I really really really really really really wish some of the naysayers on this thread that are indeed prospective buyers for the new Z/28 (and I say that because I suspect most are not....) could see what Al and company went thru to get the Z/28 sold to the company. You haven't a clue.

Next I wish people could see the REAL interworkings of automotive development and WHAT THE REAL COSTS ARE (hint: it's not the hardware, rather it's the software and development costs......)

No one on this site has seen what this car can really do (although we did take a moderator or two or three around the Milford Road Course in Z/28s - and the videos are out there....let that be a guide perhaps?) -- and yet we have people pooh-poohing the car.

It makes me wonder why we even bother at times - and then I wake up and realize that most people are simply in love with this car - whether or not they can afford it......and it's THOSE people who inspire us.

So - for those of you who think the car is overpriced -- so be it. We cannot lose money on the car and we aren't making a ton of money on it - it's a HALO car.

Lastly CAFE does affect how many cars and trucks we can build with performance V8s -- get used to it or vote your elected officials out of office.

Now - I'm going downstairs to complete more paperwork for Monday morning (that assumes I don't freeze to death first! )

I'm looking forward to the trickle-down effect throughout the Camaro line up. Thanks again!

Stop it... before GM changes it to the 85K that I thought it would be.

You're going to find something they overlooked...

Norm, you're taking me back to the days of my special-ordered '78 Nova with 9C1-Police Package chassis and LM1-350. Hot tamale', in its day...and a match for most anything else on the streets, fresh from the showroom floor...

Read again. So my 40k 1le still has a power plant in it? Or does the power plant get removed with zero money taken off. A little common sense and basic math goes a long way.
