Remember, you can go as fast as horsepower will let you in an LS with 18" wheels, if:

1. You replace the tires with ones with an appropriate speed rating (Y, Z), and

2. You are able to have the computer programmed to forget all about any top speed government.

You could do it on 14" wheels. You could do it on 15" wheels. Meet the conditions above and you're off to jail, err, I mean...

Condition 1 isn't necessary if you're not concerned about safety.

Excellent point, Mr. Cow. Or is that Ms?

I was 'treated' to a brand new set of bias-ply tires for my '72 Impala (2 dr., baby) when I graduated from college so I could drive cross-country...in 1986. I never really thought about how crappy they were until I put on a set of them 'new-fangled' radial tires made by that overseas know-nothing company Michelin. What a handling demon it was then. Don't think I ever got over 90 in that car...ever.

LOL, I guess it could be possible to wonder about my gender, between the VW I drive, the cow stuff, and now the pink spilled milk in my avatar. The pink was from a recent thread about pink milk avatars, I decided to add some to mine too. I am male.

I had a rear tire explode at 105mph on a Grand Am. It was actually not all that scary, but I bet a front tire would have been a disaster.

yeah i had a front passenger blow doing 50 in my truck, the front slammed to the ground rim caught the ground sent me sideways into a ditch before i could straighten her back out

then heading back from the farm one night in my buddies truck we blew a front driver side, rim dug into the concrete doing 70 sent us across 2 lanes hit the guard rail luckily after a overpass made the 94 k1500 extended cab flip head over heels 2 1/2 times

all 4 of us walked away with minor injuries i had bruised ribs and a concussion because my head broke the window

so yeah it can get scary lol

man i love they are tough after the tow truck flipped it back over she started right up and drove onto the flat bed well kinda slid onto it with no radiator or entire front clip lol

Naw, wouldn't clear the brakes, most likely. I was just trying to make a point.

Cool V6 Top Speed 125mph

Well, I have a 30 mile commute (one way) and about 15 miles of it is rural West Texas open highway. TX DPS is out there on very rare occasions and I have one beautiful stretch of highway which is perfect for letting the ponies run. I drive a stock Black LT with 19 inch tires.
I decided to test my commuter's stuff so I topped a curving hill, saw open road leading to the West and let it run wide open. I was headed slighty uphill (which makes me wonder how fast I could go on a level strip) and got it up to 120mph the first time. A couple of days later, I topped the hill, saw open road and stabbed the spurs. I got up to 125.
The thing is that both times I let off the gas, the RPMs were STILL climbing and I know it was still pulling through 6th with more to go. Remember, I was on a slight incline with space between the petal and the metal and the RPMS were still inching up. Also, I was at about 3/4 of a tank, at about 98 degrees F and no wind. I did get the sense that a rear spoiler will help keep the rear end down though I wasnt bouncing around, swerving or anything like that. I just know the spoiler will be a plus.
Black Beauty, blah, It's a Beast.

Man on the S10 forum I took a lot of heat cause I got mad at the low riders running 110+ with these tiny tires stretched way out on rims. You know the white wall regular cheap tires on large wheels. They told me they hit 130+ and to shut up lol.

I have it on a good source proven on an airport runway that the SS will break 155. The car in question is a 2SS Manual and recorded a speed of 161 MPH on GPS mounted to the dash. Governor at 155....I think not.
