Yeah. That sounds about right.

For me, the microphone thing is a big deal. I carry my phone in my pants pocket and I don't want to take it out to make a call when I'm in the car. I'm sure the microphone would be horribly muffled if I made a call that way.

I'm going to open it up and see if there are microphone connectors on the board. I hope there are.

Too bad the OBD doesn't work; I'd prolly buy one of the double din units.

Difference between models

I was curious if there are differences between US and European versions.
So I popped out the head unit to see the wiring.
Except for the antenna there only is one connection to the unit, as in the picture. Is that any different than yours guys?
It's the Boston Acoustics model by the way.

That looks completely different than mine.

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion yet. Mine had multiple harnesses and if they were all together they may look like that.

Hi Lim,

Did you receive payment for Camaro system, shipment to Belgium?
BUT you have to be aware if the type of connection in my car is the same as in US.
I already send you a picture of this but I included it again in this e-mail.
You have to be certain that it will fit???

Kind regards,

Apparently, this unit we've been discussing in an AN-21U in a fancy faceplate. And while that seems like just "nice to know" information, it is more than that. It's more because some of the people over on xda-developers are modding their units. In fact, they've figured out how to hard-wire an external microphone to their units.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...4&postcount=46

I don't know if that would work for these units, but maybe it would. Somebody would have to take theirs apart to get to the board in the device and look for those two mic connectors on the board, then connect a mic to test it. IMO, the next step would be to wire that to the in-car, Onstar mic.
I look through that entire thread, I am not at all comfortable with soldering onto the board. And as it was stated on the that thread, even if one could solder a new external microphone on the board the other (if there is another) would still be active and cause problems.

What would be optimum is a way to connect the existing Onstar Mic to this unit. If that wouldnt work, then to find the external mic (again, if there is one) and cut those wires, splice in a better quality mic and install it in a better location. That I am not afraid of, but going in an messing around with board, etc I cant do. Maybe someone on here has expertise on that, and with a good write up others could follow.

First things first, I would really like to see a fix to this OBD/WiFi problem.

You can load any apps that the play store has. Can't comment on how well all will work though.

So what did you do to get the Web Cam to work? In the old system there was an app, but in the upgrade it seems to have disappeared. I tried a few apps from Google Play but they are not recognizing the camera.

Thanks
