Only if installed backwards can you have an issue, and the orfice drill mod on the V6 is a must.

Understand, with over 11,000 of these in use over the years only a handfull have had issues. 99% are installation errors and the other 1% would be a defect on our part that is always repaired or replaced free.

Tracy with due respect, I need to say the following:

I am sure I installed the can and breather correctly because right after I received the items I contacted you several times to verify and make sure I was doing it right. I considered the install instructions that came with them where confusing and the pictures attached were to dark and was difficult to comprehend that was the reason I had to contacted you several times to make sure

Now my car is the V8 but seeing the above quote from member rberns-> and your answer -> “To access the orifice and drill something out”
That procedure was not included in the instructions I received at the time I purchased the items from you; in my previous message on this trail I asked if you guys made some changes or updates that I may not be aware of but you did not reply back.

I also would like to know: What GM dealers particularly in Houston TX are now in your network and sells/ install your products?...I would like to stop by and speak with them

If you guys fixed some bugs and/or additional precaution procedures were recommended after the production product release and sales; I think RX responsibility should have been to check their sales records and contact all the people that bought your product and notify us all

Also this quote from you: “the other 1% would be a defect on our part that is always repaired or replaced free.”

Well the main issue is my can and breather did not showed any sign of malfunction however one of the RX components (The breather system) is not working like it’s supposed and affected my rear main seal. also you did not even offer me to send you the breather back for inspection/repair or replacement and to be honest I do not think I could trust this device again due to the fact it does not warn the end user that the checking valve on it is going bad; instead it just creates a much bigger problem.

I am now not comfortable to even use the Catch Can alone either because it also have checking valves that can malfunction too without giving any signs and could create another problem

Good thing my dealer honored the repair because my car is still under warranty but I do not even want to imagine all the money out of my pocket if my warranty was not active anymore. But I am sure it would have been very expensive because they charge by the hour and had to take apart a bunch of other components of the car just to get to the area where the rear main seal is and replace it

If I knew the particular RX Breather product will give me this trouble then I completely agree with the comments from member Chevyman2 about to find another catch can with simpler components even if they do not offer better protection compared to the RX one but still catch a good amount of contaminants. and do not have to worry about checking valves on the can going bad without a warning and causing mayor repair issues

It is not a widespread issue, and if the V6 engine is new, the orfice is sufficient....but with miles these bcome clogged (GM has TSB's on them). But if in doubt dont go with the breather if anyone is concerned. As posted, we have over 11,000 in use over the past 9-10 years and the complaints are a fraction of a percentage with the breathers. I'm sorry you had issues, but we do these day in and day out w/out issue....and even going over things on the phone, etc. we have still had customers come in after insisting they installed them correctly only to find lines reversed. That is one thing out of anyones control except the installer. Instructions and several step by step video and picture threads are on this and other forums as well as on the lower left corner of the homepage: www.RevXtreme.com

Like I previously said: I am sure and can confirm the can and breather were properly installed.

One of the components either from the Catch can (valves) or breather (filter) became clogged without giving any warning signs and that's what created the pressure affecting the rear main seal causing the leak

I decided to not use these RX products anymore

I was sure I blew my rear main when I had the ysi and the RX stuff (monster can and breather). I bought a mighty mouse can and everything cleared up. Turns out my seal wasn't blown, oil was just pushing past it.

As a person that just blew his rear main two weeks ago I can say I did myself a favor a rerouted my entire system. I have the apex can with a Procharger so it's a bit different I know. But I had no problems with the way Procharger had me route the system I just tried to add in a can and reroute a few things well didn't work oil on the track. So I decided to go back to the old route and only run a catch can on the dirty side and just straight through to the Procharger. Eventually I'll get a can for that side but not right now. I will converting over to ls3 this winter and plan on running a t-fitting for both the valley and driver side cover hopefully won't have problems ever again.

I've had the Elite catch can on my SS since I installed the E-Force S/C 25K miles ago. I have it connected to the rear of the drivers side valve cover. I have never had any leaks and I do catch oil in it.

Have a Whipple supercharger. Put a rx catch can and breather last year. Noticed before I put it away for the winter there was oil saturated around the heads both sides. And my clutch was slipping. So this spring I had my clutch replaced. And had them check why the heads had oil. Was told the RX system was pressurizing the motor and not working right. They fixed my system. Now it's ok. Turns out when you have the can and breather you cap the passenger side vent that runs to the valve cover. By doing this all your pressure vents to the drivers side valve cover orifus. That now apparently needs to be drilled out.
People beware and don't use the breather. Most people now are using the 1le clean side cap anyways.
