New York sucks !!!!

I just went to a local Motorsports shop today -Twisted Synergy Motorsports - they are highly recommended in my area to do work on high performance cars and are great guys. They seem to really know their stuff. I talked to them today about putting 100 extra horses at the wheels of my ZL1. Which is no problem. But they did tell me that since my car is a 2014 and was bought last month, they could not put high performance headers or exhaust on my car because as of January first NEW YOUR STATE has adopted California emissions standards. So they can't put them on and if I did, I would not pass inspection - New York sucks.

^Yes, always a way. Not doubting this, but I know several shops that would beg to put on headers. If a shop really wants the money then they'll do it for you. Inspection and passing are always a gamble, even before this law.

I would give ARH (they're on Long Island) a call if I were looking for a header upgrade. Good luck.

Hear they require front plates too, lol. Seriously, don't think this is state wide...yet. Had all my cars inspected at the dealer last month and they ddin't do a smog test. Only hooked up the OBDII to DMV looking for codes as usual.

LOL, I'm a transplant, which shows how stupid I am to start with, and it didn't take long for me to figure that out.

First two years there is no emissions check only a safety inspection.

You don't need headers to get an extra 100 HP.

I know but it would have liked to get them anyway just to open up the exhaust more.

I believe GM will release the Z28 header for our car soon. I't should yield good results and have a "stock" appearance.

Many states follow the California emissions standards now. Maryland is another one of those miserable states.
