Smile Performance Upgrades

Well its finally happening, I spoke about this very thing about 1.5 months ago, and I was waiting on someone to make me a superchiller to go along with the upgrades that are now being installed today and tomorrow. Unfortunately the guy that was making the Superchiller Kit, was unable to complete the kit, due to family hardships. So I waited as long as I could and now reluctantly had to move forward. I am having a D3 performance reservoir modified to hold 4L then powder coated and installed with Id850 injectors, upper 2.55 pulley with harmonic adaptor, solid Isolator, Tb, & belt and then dyno tuned. All should be finished by Weds. afternoon. Hopefully it all goes well and I can post some great results!. PowerTech Performance is doing the work, they seem very knowledgeable and skilled, I am getting all the work done, parts and labor for 2650.00 which seems reasonable.

not that big of a deal, hopefully it yields some a noticeable improvement in power.

I have done all those upgrades and car runs great! You will love it. Joe and the guys at Powertech are very nice, was up there for a dyno day last week. Unfortunately for me and my wallet I didn't stop there, also have LTs, 10% lower pulley, soon to be an 18%, Cooler Logic HX, and FSPs blower cam. When you get it done bring it on down to Bradenton Motorsports Park for some fun at the strip!

Mrvenicess, Thank you for giving telling me about your good experience with powertech performance, it helps me have more confidence while I wait. I hopefully I can be content with these modest upgrades as I can see, how easy it is to keep playing! lol. I have heard people mention this Bradenton Motorsports place, it definitely sounds like a place I should check out. The one thing I want to achieve and avoid with this car, is to get a modest power gain, without making the car louder. I like having creature comforts like being about to have a relaxing conversation with my girlfriend in the car, and being able to enjoy the radio. I think Gm got the sound level perfect right from the factory, so I hopefully stop here and learn to love what I have. I should be picking the car up sometime late afternoon today 5/28, any advice on how to drive it for the first few days?. any need to baby it a little or is it ready to be driven any way I desire?. I imagine I will be getting a dyno tune graph. I will try to post the results. I think it would be a great thing to see some modest to significant gains from such a reserved upgrade package. I can hardly wait to see what the results will be.

Drive it like you stole it! I kept the cat back stock but with the headers on it got a bit louder and with the cam it got a whole bunch louder. Joe at Performance said it was so loud on the dyno it was messing up the readings! I'm having an ADM exhaust controller installed today along with the 18% lower pulley and boost a pump. Hoping the exhaust controller will keep it a bit quieter when I start it up in the mornings. If it doesn't rain tomorrow I will be at BMP attempting to better my best time of 10.625 @ 132 mph. You are going to love your car even more now!

I stopped by powertech to check on my car to see if it was ready, unfortunately it was not ready. and more to my disappointment it will not be ready until tomorrow. I was also a little upset to see that one of the hose for my oil catch can had been left off, for whatever reasons, it looked like it was on, but it wasn't. They are doing a dyno tune tomorrow, if I hadn't put that hose back on gee? wonder how the tune would have gone. What really aggrevated me, was I felt like he wanted to sell me "his custom" catch can. augh, get one job right powertech and then we will talk about another.

BTW I did not get my work done at Powertech but have heard good things about them. I use FSP in Bradenton. Matt and Rodney have always been great with me. Sometimes things happen during an install but a good shop will always stand by their work and make it right. What kind of catch can do you have right now? I have Apex's new can and it has been great. Easy to empty and collects a good amount of oil. What brand of pulley and isolater did you get. I got mine from Lingenfelter who make a quality part however there have been some issues in the past with their isolators. Poor Matt installed three different isolators before we ended up with one that didn't rock back and forth. Hopefully they test fit it before buttoning everything up. Looked like the holes were drilled a touch too wide.

lol southview, . Well I still believe things should and will go well today on the dyno tune. I don't know where powertech got my parts from, but its a good question to know and have the answers too. I will try to remember to ask them that question. I hopefully can report some great results later on this evening. Also I have a phastek catch can, and after speaking with Joe, from powertech, I went home and ordered and apex catch can. I should have the new catch can Friday or Monday. Powertech's "can" was 500.00 and was just a little too pricey for me. I believe this apex can should be fine for the 189.00. gee whiz lol )

How long had you been waiting for your chiller since you ordered it?

I met with David, the person who was going to put the superchiller kit together for me in Mid March. We talked and he thought all he needed was 2 weeks. I was patiently waited but unfortuantely family issues piled up for him. Well I got my car back from powertech performance about an hour ago. For starters I had put in Pulstar spark plugs in my car about 4 months ago. $16 a plug. According to powertech, they could not tune the car with those plugs, so that had to replace them with a BR7EF plug, gapped to .032. The work they did looks and appears to be excellent, the car sounds great. The person who did the tune spent about 4 hours on it dialing in the id850's and every other setting. it now redlines at 6700. I really haven't driven the car because I picked it up about 5pm at rush hour, but I plan to go out after I finish this post. The tuner tells me I picked up about 50 hp. I didn't get a print out of the dyno tune, distracted I guess. I will call the shop tomorrow and see if they have it. So for the modest upgrades I had done Id850's, upper pulley with adapter, solid isolator, belt, and d3 reservoir and tune, to get 50 hp is ok I guess ? the tuner said its best pull was 515. opinions strongly welcomed.
