I would definitely want to get a dyno pull with an a/f reading on it and give it a look. Might be worth a few bucks to take it to another shop and have them take a peak at the tune to see how it looks. Power seems to be a little off for a manual. I would absolutely put a cai on it also. I'd say that's a fair bottle neck on the intake side especially if you're boosting that much.

something else, I ment to put out there, I asked the guy tuning my car, what he set the a/f to, and he told me 11.9 . told me the factor was something like 10.2. Does
11.9 sound ok, or dangerously high?. |

That's high imo; but I've seen dyno charts for CTS-V's and ZL1's that high. They need to provide you with a print out of the dyno run that shows torque, hp and the AFR; instead of you assuming what it's at.

Yes, I plan to go back to the shop tomorrow and speak with the tuner and get more information. What would be the ideal a/f ratio ?.

Just have someone else look at it and see what they think. Mine did 508hp with just the Rotofab intake. Your numbers are too low for what you did to it. Should be mid to high 500's.

Most blown, turbo, or nitrous cars I've had have a target window of 11.5- 12.0 afr. Other people go richer but I think its not necessary. Over rich is no good either. Wouldnt want to go any leaner than 12.0 , but again my opinion

I think the 15 pounds of boost is a indicator of the restriction of the exhaust mainly the cats and if you are running stock manifolds and the stock cai lower your boost gain hp I would have at least started with a Roto-fab or Cold air intake I have about the same mods but I did have the Roto-fab with my mods but left the stock exhaust got 534 hp at the wheels 537 torque and I am putting down 13Lbs of boost because of the lack of LT and hi flow cats my tuner is Frost performance and because the boost was that hi he took some tune out of it to make it safe but I will be putting my exhaust on in July with another tune and bigger injectors so I should see much better hp numbers and lower boost hopefully about 10-11psi.

great information Cam99, and SS/rs/378. That really helps a lot.
I will post the results after I see the tuner again. |

SS/rs/378
I was giving some thought to what you mentioned about the amount of boost being a possible indicator that the exhaust is restricting the system. I do not want my car louder then it is already, but so with that in mind, do I have any options to make it less restrictive without making it much louder?. |

I would maybe talk to somebody about shorty headers and maybe the hi flow green cats I have never ran that set up but I had a 97 Silverado and I put a Procharger on it with shorty headers truck wasn't real loud but it flowed much better and you can run your current set up but to get the most from your mods you should do something with the exhaust and get rid of the stock air intake I have about the same mods with a Roto-fab cai and stock exhaust but I want that old school muscle car sound that is why I am going with the 2" Kooks hi flow cats and 3"corsa and this winter a cam will be installed.

can I just unplug the vacuum hoses that ninsecgt mentioned on both sides of the exhaust and free up some of the restriction without throwing things off?.
Other then that I will look into some Shorty Headers. |

That won't help with exhaust restriction. That just controls the flaps in the muffler to divert the exhaust gas through different chambers. I believe he was saying if you put headers or high flow cats you can do that to quiet the exhaust down some because the stock exhaust gets quite loud after those changes are made.
