The dealer replace my SC yesterday. My engine bay does sound different. I guess mine was going bad since day one. I didn't notice any performance different.

Mine developed this problem at about 300 miles. Its now at 22k miles. This isn't because Im a car idiot... I mean I am, but thats not the cause. I took it to dealers constantly since it started making the noise (multiple dealers in the SF bay/Napa/Sonoma area, a couple in Phoenix, Colorado, Wisconsin, Texas, Florida) they all said the same thing "thats normal" or "its supposed to sound like that". I may not be an awesome mechanic, but Im not that stupid, I knew something was wrong. So I have been babying my baby for the entire 22k of cross country road trips(I'll post the story soon... I suck at writing). The worst part of that is twice the dealers joyrided my car for over 25miles... and I always say 'no road test'.
But there is a light at the end of the tunnel(after I shift down and floor it)! I finally got a dealer to recognize the problem!!! hahaha YES! Thank you San Antonio! My new SC is on its way and I couldn't be more stoked. I'll try to get pics of the old SC and any damage to it as well as confirm(or not) that this doesn't cause engine damage. By the way, THANK YOU Camaro5 community! Without this thread I doubt it would have ever gotten fixed. You all rock! |

All of these issues have made me make a decision - I'm going to buy a solid isolator, likely from Lingenfelter, and change that part myself. The blower as an assembly is not the problem, just the isolator. Changing the isolator alone is less invasive, and I like that.
I also love to work on my own cars. I have fairly refined skills when it comes to working on cars, and I bought the full set of repair manuals which include our ZL1s and the blower. There's also an online video to help. |

What about the bearing? My isolator wasn't that noisy, the bearing was however. You going to change that also? |

So, some of my engine dress up stuff has come in. I have plenum cover that I would like to put on. Does the super charger work require them to anything with/near the plenum cover? If so I will wait to install.

That cover that goes over the supercharger from American Craft scratches really easy. Yes they will have to take it off and it will get scratched. So wait until its replaced. I say this because I have one.

Thank you ZL1-V and Old_Truck_Fan. Your thoughts make perfect sense. In order to save myself a lot of abuse from fellow members calling my car a Garage Queen, which very honestly it is, if you knew how low the mileage was on my car, you'd know that there couldn't yet be any metal debris contamination from the spring wearing into the shaft! For my specific situation, I think that an isolator change alone will be perfect for me. Thank you both again for your helpful input. I appreciate it a lot. |

Finally got an appointment for this coming Monday. Here is a video shot. Don't know if I am just being paranoid or not as to whether or not I hear a rattle. Do you hear it?
