They gave me a great trade value, too. I know it's been tough to wait, guys....I have been feeling it the worst. But after months of waiting for these Camaros to actually show up on lots and try to haggle a decent discount..I realized getting MSRP is great deal in itself. I called Dallas, Houston, and even the Valley and all gave me the same crap....Premiums!

It's great to find a dealer who's isn't out to profit on the woes caused by GM in the first place by taking almost 6 years to finally produce this car. It couldn't have turned out better GM in terms of their recent bankruptcy, but I know alot of people who are frustrated they cannot even see or buy a V6 Camaro much less a 2SS 5 months after production began.
did you pay over sticker? i only ask because i will not pay anything over MSRP. if they are charging any kind of premium, even with ridiculous overpriced made-up dealer options i'm not interested.

Have you checked with any dealers yet? Gunn and Vara are in SA. Check there first, if you don't like them then start checking farther dealers until you find one you like.

Talking

I checked with Gunn last Friday. They have a 250 name waiting list just to order. In other words, they told me that they would probably be calling me in about 6 to 8 months just so I can wait an additional 2 months for car to get built and delivered. I'm sure Vara may have same problem since they are only 2 dealers in the city offering MSRP.

Lundquist is offering MSRP and has been since the start of this madness in March. I only wish I had found them sooner. The reason I went there is because they had allocations for TPW's (target production dates) of OCT through NOV. I think they should have about 2 to 3 more for that timeframe. Gunn and Vara have allocations also but are taken up by waiting lists until well until next year. Go with Dan at Lundquist. You won't be disappointed.

Wow...I didn't realize the list was so long in both locations.

I was under the impression that Gunn was doing a first come-first serve basis now with the allocations. Perhaps he changed his mind on that though.

thanks, that is good to know. i hadn't made it up to gunn and now i know of lundquist. i'm not in any hurry, i'll wait till the craze dies down. i'd also prefer a production model AFTER all the major bugs are worked out of the car.

Well...the only major concerns right now are just the M6 output shaft and the L99 "slows". I think I read a couple of miscellaneous things like someone's car trying to transform (the seat starting moving by itself) and minor things with the ignition cylinder and such.

Remember that GM scores an average QA rating...so the bugs will never be "completely" gone. The only manufacturers scoring 5's are Porsche, Lexus, and Cadillac if remember correctly from the JDpowers stuff. In other news I'm understanding that Ford has been tied with Toyota now for the least number of issues per 1000 vehicles as well.

yeah i realize that, but it's like anything. stuff has to be tested in real life, nothing is ever 100% at the beginning of production of a new model. the engineers and suppliers will work on the big stuff and so the later production models will be slightly improved. it's not like a windows update on your computer that installs automatically. a sheared output shaft is a major hassle that costs you time and energy, not to mention having some kid getting paid $20 an hour to work on a brand new car that he knows nothing about. the good dealers and technicians also need time to really learn this car and how to work on it properly.

We bought from Gunn

My husband and I shopped all the dealerships in San Antonio for our new Camaro. We settled on Gunn and are VERY happy. We put our name on the waiting list 8 weeks ago (we were number 66) and they called us on Friday to place our order. They charge MSRP and no more. Ken Sheridan is very nice and easy to work with in ordering. We should get in the allocations within the next two weeks and then start waiting.

We have had a great experience with Gunn, bought a used car for our son there last month and really like them.

actually Vara is the exact opposite, they don't use a stupid azz wait list like Gunn, Vara just requires $2500 deposit and they usually have allocations available. When i wanted to order my camaro i tried Gunn and they said there was 150+ ppl on a wait list (this was a few wks back), so i went to Vara that same day, they let me order and now I'm taking delivery in a month.

Don't forget...

if anyone here wants some custom work done at the dealer level (paint, etc) that you are probably going to end up doing anyways later down the line...Tom has 8 allocations available RIGHT NOW through the first week of Oct. Yes. He's in Pennsylvania. He can drop ship. The price is MSRP...AND you would be helping out someone from the GM family.

Just a thought. I did it. I'm VERY happy that I did. No. I'm NOT concerned that my "dealer" is 1,500 miles away. My at home service shop is Ancira...where I USED to buy all my cars at $200 over cost. Now, they only work ON my cars.

Order from wherever you wish. But if you want something more, give it a go. YES...I'm pushing to help Tom! NO...I do NOT get anything for sending people his way!!!...other than the satisfaction of helping out both a friend and the cousin of Scott Settelmire. He's good people...and will go way out of his way to get you taken care of.

I wish I could've read that post before i ordered from Gunn...because that way I could have gotten stripes and a back strip painted on before I took delivery.

Such is life. I'll just get them painted on later. I'm gonna drive it around nekkid for a while.

Well..my allocation is in and GM has accepted it. So now it'll be another couple months and then I'll be able to hang out with the cool folks at Biff's.

I could take my EVO down there but I'm not driving it since I'm trying to sell it.
