What Kind of Key on 2015s?

After the key fiasco of last summer, what is Chevy doing with the newly manufactured 2015s? Do they have pushbutton start or just a key and fob and is it a better implementation than the work around they did for 2014 and previous models?

My 2015 came with two separate keys and remotes (old style). It is easy to convert back to the switchblade fob. The key is already cut and grooved to fit. Just a matter of removing the plastic and insert into the spring loaded bracket with a 1/16" x 3/8" roll pin or a cut #19 nail.

The new 2015 Malibu's come with the same switchblade key fob the Camaro's come with. Just got a bunch of leased cars in from the dealer and they all have switch blade fobs.

What's sad is i think a lot of posters here don't realize that the "new" keys aren't one iota different then your old switchblade fobs. The only difference is they are put in a piece of plastic. Easily to be taken out of and placed in acompanying fob. Instant new switchblade fob same as the old switchblade fob.

So the fobs have the space where the key used to be?

i took mine out of the plastic and put it back in fob. 4 or less minutes project once you have the tools ready. grinded the plastic until i was able to take the key out, put loctite gel super glue in the fob hole, shub the key in and passed a nail cut to size thru the side hole, wipe off excess glue and done. works like a charm.

Looks good.

I used a dab of 30min epoxy and a 1/16" x 3/8" roll pin from a ar15 rebuild kit. Kept the other spare separate for return trips to the dealer for maintenance.

same here, i left the spare key with the recall BS just in case. i've taken the car back to the dealer after doing this and they have not said a thing about it.
