so i got the recall but what are they doing? giving you a standard fob and an additional separate key? i actually hate the switchblade thing, too bulky for my tastes. anyone have a picture of the replacement?

What the gi e you is NOT a replacement. What they gove u is on your hand. They seperate the "blade" from your current fob then stick the blade in a standard key housing and give it all back to you. NO new key NO new fob.

They remove the key from the fob and give you a seperate key. So now its going to be more bulky for you. You will have a key and a keyless fob instead of the fob with the integrated key.

Key Recall? There is no Key Recall and these aren't the droids you're looking for......

I'm 6' 6". My knee could hit the ignition if it was on the dash next to the A/C vent. I'm ignoring it.

They do track if you've had it done. I just got a second notice that I have not got it done yet.

I'm 6'2" and wear 36 length pants. I cannot turn the vehicle off with my right knee. I have to have the seat all the way back and all the way down just to fit.

What I suspect is someone with long legs got into the car without adjusting the seat to give them the proper leg room, had the steering wheel adjusted in the highest position it will go. I actually tried this without the car running and was able to touch the key with my knee, but I would never drive in this position, as I learned what it feels like to be the pringle in the middle of the can.

The only other logical conjecture is that someone had the other switchblade open up while in their pocket driving, stick them between the legs, which made them crap in their pants, which caused their knee to shut off the car.

So my 2014 has the recall done and the tip of my key is very sharp, I have actually scratched myself a few times reaching into my pocket. So basically before having a recalled key I was safer than I am now. Great thinking GM.

My local dealership told me this recall is not mandatory. He told me to keep my switch key. LOL

Pretty much it, and you will continue to get notices in the mail.
