Yeah I almost bought a used one but then this deal came out. The dealership had a 2013 black which chromed wheels and sunroof with 3k miles they wanted to sell for 47,500. Lol. I was like why the hell would I buy used then. They came down to 42,500 on the used 2013 but still couldn't do it. Not enough savings. They had to move units before year end as this is one of the biggest Chevrolet dealerships in country. They treated me right.

One problem I had was confusion on out the door. When I was there to sign papers the papers said out the door was essentially 46,500 (46,000 plus deposit). I said no way that's not what out the door means to me (based on multiple discussions). I got up and I was actually going to leave and they took the 500 off. So 46k even out the door. I really think it was just an honest mistake. My sales guy was really good and always honest with me. I am very critical about car sales people because most experiences weren't good. But they honestly did an excellent job. I contacted another dealer in town and they wouldn't come close to that price.

I called around lots of dealerships within a 300 mile radius to Des Moines Iowa. I actually got my best price 15 minutes away. I called and tried making deals with a lots of places. 2013s don't count and only some 2014s and 2015s as you know count.

Found just about the perfect combo color etc. The other other combo I would have considered is Ashen grey with black wheels. And probably and automatic but didn't really see any of those. Happy I got a manual.

Sounds like you got really lucky, some are not moving a dime off the 20% off at all. Cant believe that you got such a stellar price.Way to go!

I have the manual and sometimes wish I had an auto because of how exceptional it is in this car. Overall though you'll be happy you get to row the gears. Auto even with the paddles is just not as exciting as shifting.

Your price is outstanding and buying it during these winter months with the huge discounts and the overflow of stock definitely helped your deal for sure. Only one thing I couldn't of lived without was the sunroof, I love having it. The Nav. I have but although good your not missing out on much if you have a smart phone. Still if those two features would of been on the car your price tag would of been 45k plus easy, and even then it would of been a great deal for a 14'. Mine is a 13' with 6k miles and I wouldn't sell mine for that.

Next, after you get comfortable with the car you'll want to lightly mod the sucker. I put on a 10% lower pulley, damper, new id850 injectors, rotofab intake, and custom tune and picked up dam near 100 rwhp on stock exhaust and manifolds, all with stock to better drive ability.
Now I'm contemplating the new gloss black Z/28 replica wheels (there gorgeous).

Good luck man and welcome to a new breed of animal.

Especially when it's winter here in ct and your sitting on a left over you should kiss ass if someone's interested! The sales guy I didn't deal with was very nice but the guy I dealt with who is the manager had a very very poor attitude!
That is strange. I have bought 10 vehicle's from them over the years and have never had a problems with the sales or service. Agreed you would think they would be all over someone interested in it being that you buy it and will store it until spring.

Thank you!

The first thing I can't live without is sound. I have to get rid of that system. Just don't like it. I didn't care about nav because I am transferring over as much from my 370z as I can. Then I will get custom sub for the back and put in my pioneer nav deck in. Redoing all the speakers in it.

I do want to mod eventually. Probably will do intake for sure. Don't really wanna mess with the exhaust because it sounds so nice. I really don't want to touch the engine much. That may change a few years from now.

And yes the dealership gave me a good deal. They have to hit their unit quota for this month and year. That's why I bought it still not having sold my 370z. I don't like trading cars in. I am been fortunate and patient enough before that I usually get retail or close to if I sell it myself.

Also most places I called wouldn't go down farther than the 20%. But that's like selling at full retail from the dealership point of view. They knew I would have walked if I didn't get the deal and they came through. Sounds like I got lucky.

This makes it 48,784...still a smoking deal for a new ZL1. But if they're going to sell you that car for that, don't expect jack for trade-in value. Just sayin.

They know that after 1/2, they may be keeping that car for a good while because of the 6th gen excitement coming.
I want to thank SamHouse III for posting this in the first place and Hognutz & el ess A for commenting and making me reread the first post (thanks for not blasting my post).

I had been looking around town for a ZL1, but I didn't want to see my SS driving around town. So I had starting looking out of town and had a deal going for a new 15 in AZ, when this was posted. Needless to say I jumped on it...

Had never purchased the vehicle this way and Eric made it painless. Best road trip ever...
