Very impressed with my Camaro.
My car is a 2010 SS/RS basically stock other than flow master mufflers and a k&n filter. I have had the car about 9 days now. Today my friends asked if I wanted to go for a drive up the local mountain road in Tucson. (On a side note it is the same road that some race scenes were filmed for the movie The Raith.) I decided to go because I haven't gotten the car on any real curves yet and I wanted to get a feel for it before I take it to its first track day next week.
I traded in an 05 corvette when I bought the camaro so I was expecting the extra weight and softer suspension to really bother me. I'm running perelli p zeros that came on the car and looked brand new when I bought it. My friends cars were a 2003 zo6 and an older model STI. Both have a lot of work done to them and both of my friends have a lot more experience driving at a spirited pace than I do. The zo6 is putting down 450 to the wheels and the STI is 550. I was expecting them to take off and not see them again until we stopped at the top. To my surprise the camaro handled awesome even though it felt like the car had so much body roll the mirrors might drag the ground. It was well planted. The rear end never kicked and I never noticed the traction control kick in if it ever did. When I had my vette on the same road the back in would kick out and the TC would kick in abruptly. I was right on my buddies Subaru through the corners but he would pull away pretty easy on the straights. I wasn't dissapointed though he's turbo'd with 550 wheel hp and I'm N/A at 6-9000 ft elevation with 426 crank hp. The Zo6 was a good distance ahead the whole time but never out of sight for long. I really had a blast getting to open the car up a bit. I can't wait for the track day next week where I can really push it and enjoy it. When I bought the car I was worried I would feel like it was a downgrade and regret it. But I'm very satisfied with the purchase. |

I'll tell ya what man, these things handle amazing once you do some suspension modes and a solid alignment. I took mine up to sedona recently on 89a and this thing was a beast. Congrats on the car, and try to make it up to sedona sometime and try it out!

What kind of suspension mods? I plan to get a strut tower brace and eventually a rear cradle brace. I'm not sure if I want to lower it much if at all. Where I live the roads are pretty bad and the corvette I had would always bottom out. I may be heading up to the grand Canyon in a few months when my dad comes out to visit so I may swing through sedona.

Yes it was. Quote:
What is the difference between the street performance alignment and a regular alignment? Is it one of those with an aggressive camber that wears your tires out faster? |
