bluetooth voice commands

I have a 2012 ss l99. I'm having a problem with the voice commands to dial a phone number. My phone is synced, but when I want to call someone i have to say the phone number instead of the name I want to call. The name of ther person I'm calling shows up after it dials though. Anyone else experience this or know what I might be doing wrong. It's not a big issue. Just a little annoying.

That is exactly how mine works. Never been able to get it to recognize a name, always have to say number.

For what its worth, that sounds like the same system that is in my wife's Avalanche. We had to set up the numbers that we wanted with the vehicle and use that name to get them to call. It is unlike the My Link system where you say the name as listed in the phone. There is a process listed in the manual to store the names in the vehicle. I think you have up to 30 you can save.

I had to do that with my 2013 1LS. You can choose a number from the phone (using the car) then the car lets you record yourself saying the name (or whatever you want). Once you do that, you can say those names to call those people. The car only comes pre-programmed to recognize what numbers sound like. You have to teach it what the names sound like.

Having had My Link first in the Camaro (we bought the Avalanche end of last year used), it seems like a PITA.

Mine never did synch either so i downloaded an app called Bluetooth Phonebook. It works great now. You can try the trial version to test but it changes a digit so you must purchase the app which was only .99 cents. For some reason the car wouldn't download the Phonebook until I installed the app.

It actually works well for us, just have not taken the time to put all the numbers in.
