What's with the seat recall?

Just got a reminder in the mail regarding the seat recall, and the ignition key recall.

I don't want to do the key unless I absolutely have to, but I don't remember getting anything about the "power height adjustable driver and passenger seat."

What's that about? No problems so far...

If you keep the seat all the way down you'll never have a problem. They say if the seat is raised the bolts or something could fail and it could fall unexpectedly.
I had mine done when it went in for inspection. Took them 30 mins extra.

I had to sign off Not to have the key recall done but they didn't care.

Its just a bolt that should have had a locknut on it originally but did not so it can loosen or fall out over time.

Someone on C5 sent me Recall proceedure and part number on it and ordered the bolt kit and did it myself. The kit was less than 2 bucks, Part Number - 23278155.

Hey, thank you guys.

I'm 6' 4" so my seat stays down as far as it will go at all times.

Don't think I'll mess with this recall either...

Same here, but my wife would have to raise the seat up to drive, so I went ahead and did it. Cheap and non invasive.

Same recall applies to the passenger seat power mechanism if you have a car new enough to be equipped with power passenger seat.

Why not do the recall? It's for safety and doesn't take much time?

Is this seat recall for the 2014 models also? Mine has both driver and passenger power seats.

14271: Product Safety - Power Seat Height Adjuster Bolt - (Dec 15, 2014)
Subject: 14271 – Power Seat Height Adjuster Bolt

Models: 2011-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal 2010-2012 Cadillac SRX 2011-2012 Chevrolet Camaro2010-2012 Chevrolet Equinox2010-2012 GMC Terrain Equipped with Driver Power Seat Height Adjuster

It is a violation of Federal law for a dealer to deliver a new motor vehicle or any new or used item of motor vehicle equipment (including a tire) covered by this notification under a sale or lease until the defect or noncompliance is remedied.

All involved vehicles that are in dealer inventory must be held and not delivered to customers, dealer traded, or used for demonstration purposes until the repair contained in this bulletin has been performed on the vehicle.

Condition
General Motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2011-2012 MY Buick Regal and LaCrosse, 2010-2012 MY Cadillac SRX, 2011-2012 MY Chevrolet Camaro, and 2010-2012 MY Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain vehicles equipped with power height adjustable driver and passenger front seats. Some of these vehicles may have a condition where the bolt that secures the power front seat height adjuster can become loose or fall out. If the bolt falls out, the seat will drop suddenly to the lowest vertical position. The sudden seat movement may affect a driver’s ability to safely operate a vehicle or increase the risk of injury to the seat occupant in a vehicle crash.

Correction
Dealers are to replace the height adjuster shoulder bolt.

Vehicles Involved
All involved vehicles are identified by Vehicle Identification Number on the Investigate Vehicle History screen in GM Global Warranty Management system. Dealership service personnel should always check this site to confirm vehicle involvement prior to beginning any required inspections and/or repairs. It is important to routinely use this tool to verify eligibility because not all similar vehicles may be involved regardless of description or option content.
For dealers with involved vehicles, a listing with involved vehicles containing the complete vehicle identification number, customer name, and address information has been prepared and will be provided to US and Canadian dealers through the GM GlobalConnect Recall Reports, or sent directly to export dealers. Dealers will not have a report available if they have no involved vehicles currently assigned.

The listing may contain customer names and addresses obtained from Motor Vehicle Registration Records. The use of such motor vehicle registration data for any purpose other than follow-up necessary to complete this recall is a violation of law in several states/provinces/countries. Accordingly, you are urged to limit the use of this report to the follow-up necessary to complete this recall.

Parts Information
Parts required to complete this recall are to be obtained from General Motors Customer Care and Aftersales (GMCC&A). Please refer to your “involved vehicles listing” before ordering parts. Normal orders should be placed on a DRO = Daily Replenishment Order. In an emergency situation, parts should be ordered on a CSO = Customer Special Order.

Part Number - 23278155
Description - Attachment Kit, F/Seat Vert Adjr
Quantity/Vehicle - 1 or 2

Service Procedure
1. Adjust the driver front seat into the fully upward and forward position.
Note: It is NOT necessary to remove the adjuster and lever knobs, nor disconnect the electrical connector noted in the procedure below. The finish cover (1) can be detached and repositioned to gain access to the vertical adjuster actuator bolt.

2. Remove the front seat outer adjuster finish cover (1) from the seat. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Outer Adjuster Finish Cover Replacement (with Power Height Adjuster) in SI.

1. Remove the seat vertical adjuster actuator bolt (1) and discard.
2. Install the new shoulder bolt (1) with integral washer (2), and the locknut (3) from the retainer kit.

1.
2. From the outboard side, install the shoulder bolt w/integral fastener to the bracket and torque to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).
3. From the rear underside of the seat, thread the locknut onto the threads of the shoulder bolt and torque to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

3. Reinstall the front seat outer adjuster finish cover. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Outer Adjuster Finish Cover Replacement (with Power Height Adjuster) in SI.
4. If the vehicle is equipped with a passenger seat power height adjuster, repeat steps 1 - 5 on the passenger side front seat.

I have purchased my car from florida and shipped it to Saudi Arabia. When I went to the dealer last month, they told me about both recall. I have instruct them not to do the key change.

When I went to get my car, they had me sign a paper and gave me 2 free keys without touching my original key

I have never gotten a recall on my 12 for the seat... I am guessing it's not all 12's.
