Hey be happy its not a Z/28 those guys were saying, rotors, caliper's, Pads and tires to change are $13,000 dollars. Unfortunately the rear shocks are $120.00 a piece.

$1,000 for shocks on a car of this caliber is not unthinkable. Failure at 44,000 miles does in fact seem premature. If there are bad roads and constant bumps and potholes that's another story. Heavy track use, that's another story. But just normal driving on fairly smooth roads I feel that is early.

I love my Bilsteins PSS 10s. Still good after 40k hard use, potholes, track.

question, if someone wanted to, could they replace the mrc shocks with shock absorbers that go onto the SS or the 1LE?. Would it be ok or would it mess something up with the computer?. If it would mess something up with the computer, could the computer be reprogrammed to ignore the error?.

So has anyone else had to replace their shocks on the ZL1 early? (44K is early in my opinion). How common is it to have these replaced? I am considering a 2016 SS with the MRC option, and would like to know what I am getting myself into with regards to maintenence.

GMC is offering one of its Denali full size crew cab half-ton with mag-ride wouldn't want to see the replacement cost for them.

I have 39k on my zl1 and just replaced the passenger side rear shock. I have ordered a second one for the drivers side as well, so waiting on that to arrive. I started noticing the rough ride and bouncing all over so I checked the shocks and of course, one had oil all over it. Drivers side did seem to have some residue, but not near as bad. After changing the passenger, I can certainly feel a difference between the two.
Additionally, I feel like my front suspension is quite firm after replacing the right rear. What I'm wondering is.... is the front suspension a different component than the rear as in are those struts vs shocks? and is there any chance the fronts would be covered under warranty or will they be the same as the rears and be considered a maintenance item? |

Neither is considered a maintenance item, should be covered 3 year or 36k miles.. over that and then you would be paying

Mine did not make it 8000 miles
2013 ZL1 Both my rear mag. ride struts were leaking before 8000 miles had them replaced under warranty. Fronts are ok, no leaks. I think GM has some issues to work out. A class action law suite maybe in order.

Looks like extended warranty might have been beneficial in this instance.
