long tubes boost conpensation question

I have a 2013 auto zl1. I have 1 7/8 headers and a cold air intake on the way. I have been reading and it seems that I will need a 2.55 pulley upgrade to compensate for the loss of boost from headers. My question is; lingenfelter sells just the 2.55 pulley and hub to replace the factory pulley, but they also sell a kit that contains more pulleys and hardware. Will I need to spend the extra 200$ on the extra parts? Or will the 2.55 pulley and Hub be enough to give me back the boost? Yes a tune will be done after. I realize I misspelled the title btw. Don't know how to fix it.

Loss of boost is not a bad thing in this case. You are getting the exhaust gas out more efficiently and less pressure will build up in the intake.

Ok, but I was reading where ctsv zr1 zl1 will sound better but won't perform any better because of that loss of boost. Yay or nay?

Boost is a measure of the restriction in the intake and engine. Higher flowing exhaust ex headers lower the restriction so the boost lowers. You are moving the same air more efficiently. More boost does not necessarily equal morepower.

Whoever wrote what you read is full of it. As said boost is purely a measure of restriction, and is also heat, compression is heat. For comparision, increasing the supercharger speed will provide more air, and without any other flow mods the boost will also increase as a side effect, as well as heat. It will provide more power than before.

Removing the restrictions with the same speed supercharger as above, will reduce the boost number, and heat while providing more air flow through the engine which provides more power than the motor with just a sped up supercharger alone.

The best goal if to move air through the engine as easily as possible, adding headers, ported heads, or cams help get the number back down to reasonable numbers will provide the best result.

I would do THIS before I would pull my blower off and press another pulley onto it.

ATI - Overdrive Harmonic Balancer Kit. You still get more boost and with much less wrench time. If you plan to raise the boost much more than just a little, I would also consider upgrading cooling and Injectors.

Hope this info is helpful!

You can not install a 2.55 pulley without upgrading your injectors.

Your much better doing the lower pulley vs the upper pulley.

You can add a 10% lower with your injectors and headers and cold air kit and be safe.

Check our JRE ZL-1 Power packages, DIY plug and play power solutions with custom tuning included.
