Intake manifold for Twin Turbo.
Any gains to be had by buying a MSD Atomic, FAST, or Aluminum Profesional Products intake?
I'm going TT and want to know if it make more power or torque or even throttle response buying an aftermarket one. I like the looks of the atomic the most. I show my car and will miss the way my eforce looked with my show theme. I have heard the FAST can leak but not sure. I have to buy a intake so what's another 600.00

Buy a stock LS3 and spend the extra money on something else like towards a meth kit, suspension items, tires, gas. The stock LS3 intake is pretty hard to beat unless you are doing a max effort build.
Numerous people have made over 1kwhp with the stock intake and throttle body. |

I'm no expert but the videos of the fast being taken apart to show the portable intake runners makes the manifold look weak and thin , id go with the aluminum for the extra thickness not flow

My buddy made 886rwhp with twin turbos with the stock intake manifold. The stock flows perfectly well.
Save the money for something else.

Like blake b said stock tb, manifold & heads are good for well over 1000 rwhp. Atomic looks cool for shows but I don't know about it psi rating if it's anything like the fast I would use it if it was for free. Custom aluminums are pretty expensive unless your trying to integrate a custom meth/nitrous system I wouldn't bother. There are couple hi raise options also if you want to go that route.

If you decide you need a Holley Hi Ram or mid rise (I wouldn't consider it as it hasn't shown any gains in the posts I've seen), you will have to cut your cowl and lose your passenger wiper. With the hi ram, you'll need a cowl hood because it won't clear the stock hood.
However, my advice is still stock LS3. Have it hydrodipped in a pattern pleasing to you if you want it to stick out a little (eye candy). |

Stock intake has made over 1500rwhp.
Put the money into suspension/tires/drivetrain. Intake manifold is a complete waste of money at anything <1400rwhp.

My untouched factory intake manifold and throttle body was on the car for 1700 ish RWHP with spray, 1330 with boost only.
We only moved to a sheet metal intake when we started aiming for 2000 + RWHP on boost only. We no longer have nitrous on the car...

I would agree to this," Have it hydrodipped in a pattern pleasing to you if you want it to stick out a little (eye candy)". look at Blake's profile he has a picture of one hydrodipped and looks good

Whilst there is no doubt OEM works superbly, it does seem some of the aftermarket intakes do still help things, perhaps more so if using higher rpm's
If staying below 6-6500rpm, OEM just works. If wanting a little help at the top end, the likes of the Atomic could be worth it for you, especially as it sounds like you have no intake to start with anyway. |
