Has anyone tried the new Mickey Thompson ET Street SS radial?
They just came out in 2015.
I'm looking to pick up a set of either the NT05R (315) or the new MT ET Street Radial SS (305) in the spring. Wondering if anyone has used them? http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/a...Sheet.pdf.html My car is a 2015 ZL1 automatic bone stock. Best time on stock tires in the summer was 11.91 at 114mph with a 1.78 sixty. Yesterday in good air I ran several 12.0's at 118.8mph with a 1.91 sixty but had to pedal a ton in first even with PTM. (The car was making more power in the good air and the track wasn't as sticky so I was overpowering the stock tires) Shooting for 11.70s bone stock with the DR's in the spring...just need to decide on which to get. The car is a fair weather driver only and will see about 3K miles a year. The tires will be my only tire for both street and track and I'd like something that'll hook to the 1.6's with good track prep yet offer better handling than the MT DR II. Thanks in advance! If the car is only going to be drove in fair weather then i would say just get the ET street radial 2, I've had them on my car and i loved them, i would be getting another set if I was staying with the stock 20s but i guess you can't go wrong with either because both tires use the same soft tire compound.
Only difference according to MT is that the SS has different tread pattern to help prevent hydroplaning if caught in rain, not sure about sidewall structure, etc.

Thanks I've used the radial 2 before and while they hook great they don't handle all that decent. My understanding was the SS had the same compound, better tread for wet weather and a stiffer sidewall.

Thats what I am hoping for. The NT05R's had a really decent sidewall, so you could take turns pretty aggressively without your rear end wagging side to side if you got the air pressure right. But the grip just wasnt what I hoped for. If these have a stiffer sidewall I'd be game to try them out. Anyone else try them yet?

I'm going to get them in the spring. I was thinking about the NT05R but from what I've read they're just not as consistent. I'll let you know how it goes...I'm hoping a little more air in the SS for normal driving will also help it feel stiffer.
Merry Christmas! Chris |

I'm pushing about 650 rwhp on MT ET Street S/S P305/35R20's and they hook hard with no prep at 20 deg F. I just broke some crappy bolts that secure the flex plate to the torque converter after a semi-hard 2200 rpm launch - it takes some effort to get these tires to spin, so be prepared for stuff breaking.
I could break the prior set of Nitto Motivo's loose at 60 mph but the S/S's hardly ever break loose in dry weather (only a few hundred miles so far though). And, I have driven in light rain with no issues, but I can't speak to handling in standing water - avoid it. |

Where are you finding the best prices for the MT ET Streets? I may opt for them when my NT05's need replacing.

I just ordered a pair of these in 305/40-18 to replace my old worn out NT05Rs. I've talked to several people who have ran both and they pretty much told me to get the Mickeys.
